Massacre (3)

A funeral at a large, famous shrine in the Kobe region, big limousines with tinted windows role into a secured area to discharge their passengers in private. All the heads of allied/junior Yakuza groups, most the heads of major rival groups. Some assorted others, not officially Yakuza aligned, who wish to remain anonymous.

The head of the largest, most powerful national Yakuza group has suddenly, surprisingly, died. A sudden heart attack, it is said. Some suspect an assassination.

The chief mourner is Yutaka Ide, his son. At just 30 something he would be far too young to take over as kumicho - leader - normally, but under the circumstances, he has little choice.

At least he has the loyalty and support of his father's four chief lieutenants. But he is also acutely aware that one or more of the biggest rival groups are likely to "test his leadership skills," to put it politely.
