Chapter 11: Origin (Part II)

For hundreds of years, the rule has been set and active by the Council. A unanimous decision to prevent another almost extinction of Mystics by humans. To prevent death and sorrow, a war because humans tend to be afraid of those different from them.

Iris wants to throw that away, the protection that Mystics have as a result of this rule. The only reason why Mystics continue to thrive in society. Although secluded, they’re still living until their time is up and they leave this world to be reborn again. It’s a cycle that shouldn’t be interrupted or history will repeat itself.

Within the minutes of silence that encases us after Iris’ confirmation of their intentions, which they allow me time to process, I step away from the small corner of the hallway and go to the courtyard nearby. There are footsteps trailing behind me, but I don’t look back. I know it’s Iris. She doesn’t know when to give in, let things go.
