A slight breeze passes through the courtyard, and I shiver, wrapping my arms around myself. “Is it bad? What actually happened, I mean? Did we…?”
“Almost fall to extinction? Yeah. That part’s still true,” Iris says. “But everything leading up to it and the war itself was twisted by the Council.” She holds out her hand, and a small flame forms right in the center of her palm. All of the cold just washes away. “They’re not what you think they are, Mika. Everyone must know what they’ve done.”
Before the war, humans and Mystics lived in solidarity. There was peace and harmony, laughter and joy. In villages, human kids played with Mystic kids. Mystic adults gathered goods and used their abilities to make survival easier for everyone.
Nature Mystics, like Nymphs and Druids, managed farming. Druids also became village doctors, their potions and healing abilities serving the sick and injured.
