The weekend hits, and I tell my parents that I’m going to the library to study for a non-existent quiz coming up next week. In my bag, I pack supplies for the posters—paper, writing utensils, and the book on Ancient Mystic Scripture that I stole from my parents’ bedroom while they were at work on Friday.
Sacred Pines’ town library isn’t as crowded as it usually is on the weekdays, where kids go after school to do work or hang out with friends or simply read books.
Growing up, I heard that human kids don’t really enjoy books because they associate reading with homework or reading for school purposes. Since they’re reading so much in school, they burn out and would rather do other things that are more fun to them.
