I’m left in the silence as my parents exchange looks and do their ‘couples telepathy’ that I don’t really understand, nor do I know how it works. But I wait.
I glance at the front of the tent every now and then as new healers or wounded Mystics walk in. Jasper has been playing his guitar non-stop, and I can only wonder if his fingers hurt from being pressed down on the strings for so long. Either way, he probably doesn’t care.
Dad clears his throat, and my attention lands back on them. “You want to end the war? If that’s where fate leads you to…”
“Our abilities aren’t meant for fighting,” Mom chimes in. “But I’m sure you and Iris can make it work. You can use the nature to your advantage.”
“Thank you.” I hug them for a brief moment. “I’ll be careful, I swear. And I’ll try not to end up back in Abyss somehow.”
