Luke's convictions shattered as the bar closed. The night seemed darker than normal, and he'd had a difficult day. Abel was the last person that he should see, and he knew that. Still, he stayed at the entrance waiting for him anyway.
Part of him hoped that Abel wouldn't show up, that he'd have enough sense to know that Luke wasn't worth the danger of being on The Faith's radar. He had a suspicion of Abel's feelings for him, between the way that he smiled at him and the way that he went out of his way to see him, and it was terrifying. It was exactly what he'd been afraid of when he first saw Abel at the bar. Abel couldn't have those feelings for him. They couldn't have those feelings for each other.
But, rationality didn't change how badly Luke wanted to see him.
"Hey, you got my note!"
Luke turned around at the sound of Abel's voice and saw him smiling as he approached Luke, dressed in an ill-fitting suit jacket and black satin tie.
