Chapter 27: Isaac Learned his Lesson

Isaac went back to Olivia’s apartment to gather his things. There wasn’t much, and he’d stayed pretty tidy while sleeping on her couch.

“You should sleep over again sometime, this was kind of fun,” Olivia said. “Minus the brokenhearted moping, of course.”

Isaac snorted and zipped his duffel bag shut. He was all for not being brokenhearted again. It was one of his main goals in life, in fact. “We can both cook dinner and fail miserably.”

Olivia’s skills in the kitchen weren’t much better than his. They’d eaten a lot of pasta and sandwiches.

“I didn’t hear you complaining about my killer peanut butter and jelly,” Olivia said.

“Pretty sure I didn’t have taste buds most of the week,” Isaac said.

Olivia rolled her eyes. “Whatever. Go back home and starve.”

“I will not starve. I have cereal.” The milk probably went bad, but he could eat it dry.

She choked back laughter. “You make me feel so much better about myself.”
