"I really did change..." I muttered under my breath, as the wolf closed the distance.
as he was about to slice my face with his sharp claws, I used his momentum against him, I grabbed his wrist, rerouted him over my shoulder, and guided him into the tree.
he crashed face first into the tree, do to his momentum, he went straight through the tree, and with a role, landed at the base of another tree.
as he was scrambling to his feet, I ran at him, and with a running start, I lifted my knee, and guided it right into his face, with a grunt of pain, he flew back, blood and sharp teeth flew out of his mouth.
not letting me have the chance to finish of there new leader, the rest of the pack charged at me.
I weaved between their attacks, one by one they missed, when there was an opening, I stabbed and slashed at them with the dagger.
but after every cut I made they almost instantly healed themselves.
'they heal even faster when transformed' I thought to myself as I dodged another attack.
'jabbing and slicing won't cut it now, I need to deal more damage, before they can regenerate'
with that thought, I remembered the back flames that always covered the beings I've killed, and the reactions of these wolves when it happened before told me that it wasn't something normal.
ever since the flames first appeared, I thought they where just something normal for a vampire, but lately I've begun to think otherwise.
'maybe, I could use those flames to my advantage, but how?' I thought to myself.
after that thought, I tried to figure out how to summon the dark flames.
"ugh, why the fuck is this so hard?" I muttered under my breath, as I tried to bring the flames out.
I was about to try something else to bring the flames out but was interrupted by another wolf.
"piss off, I'm trying to do something!" I roared at the wolf as I swung the dagger at him.
as I swung the dagger, the black flames spread along the blade, as soon as the blade made contact with the werewolf's chest, the flames started to slowly spread around the gash the cut left behind.
he yelped as he jumped back and patted the flames in an attempt to put them out, the flames refused to go out, they picked up speed as they spread all over his body.
his yelps turned into cries of pain as he was burned alive.
the rest of the pack watched in horror as the fellow dropped to the ground and wailed as the flames ate him like they had a mind of there own.
I looked down at the dagger, it was now distorted from the black flames, the flames danced around the blade as if begging to be used.
I looked back up at the burning wolf and his kin, he was now nothing more then a smoking skeleton, with some flesh still attached to his bones.
the rest looked back up at me, and back down at there friend, trying to process what just happend.
as they stared back at me with wide eye's, they instinctively stepped back from me.
I felt a distorted smile spread across my face.
"why are you guy's backing off now?" I asked with a tilt of my head, "what happened to all that spirit, you lot had before?"
"we're sorry sir, we didn't realize you were a roy-" the wolf I kneed in the face, now back in his human form, suddenly spoke up.
'when did he get back up? I didn't see him move at all' my thoughts where cut short as I slit his throat with my flaming dagger.
he dropped to his knees, and before he could even gurgle, the flames already started to consume his body.
I felt the flames spread up my arm, there was pain but it wasn't from the flames.
in fact, they felt really good as they spread up my arm.
I looked back up at the rest of the pack, who were now in there human forms as well.
"I'm going to kill you all!" I roared, as I lunged at them.
...
"Ugh I went over board and got sloppy, and because of that some managed to slip away..." I mumbled to myself, as I walked down the boardwalk, heading back to my trailer.
since I killed the wolf who cast the spell, everything returned to normal, people were walking around and having fun on the boardwalk.
people were walking past me with worried and strange looks on there faces.
"hmm, is something wrong with how I look?" I questioned myself as I looked in a passing mirror.
looking in the mirror, I instantly understood why everyone was looking at me.
my clothes where a mess with tears and blood all over them, and nearly half of the right side of my shirt was burned off.
it didn't take my long to get back to the trailer, once I got back in, I cleaned myself, changed my clothes, and gathered anything of remote importance to me, which wasn't a lot since this was just a temporary base for me in-between mission's.
after gathering everything I needed, I pulled a big red gas can ment for exactly this situation out of the closet, and poured it all over the trailer.
as I opened the door, I lit a match and gently tossed it behind me, the inferno roared to life behind me as I left.
with a hood covering my head, I headed back towards the town.
it's time I headed back home.
I made meny stops through the town as I walked home, buying different things, such as snacks for Sam, and a burner phone to let him know I'm on my way back.
I stopped walking and looked back in time to see a fire engine zoom past me with its sirens blaring.
I pulled the burner phone out of my pocket, and dialed a familiar number.
ring.
ring..
ring...
finally the other side answered.
"hello? if this is the debt collector's you got the wrong number." a familiar voice came through the phone.
"how high are you?" I asked in an flat tone.
"I'm good, you?" He cackled.
I laughed back, Sam has not only been a very big help for me the last three years, but has also been my crutch for the messed up things that happened that day.
without him, I don't think I'd be the person I am today.
"I'm on my way home" I stated as I looked up at the cloudy afternoon sky.
"alright bro..." is all he said before I heard the bubbling sound of a bong.
"I'll order some food..." he said through coughs.
"alright, it should only take me like twenty minutes to get home, dont go overboard with the food." I said as I hung up the phone, not wanting to give him a chance to ramble to me.
"I'll just get a taxi..." I muttered as I looked for one.
