Testing the Ressurection skill

My recent failure in resurrection kept playing in my mind as I reflected. There was no difference in my method from resurrecting Peter and resurrecting Aaron but Peter had resurrected and Aaron had not which got me thinking of the vague term called "bond".

My outing with Gwen and Peni went in a blur while I was thinking of increasing the success rate when I spotted a Bonsai tree in a Chinese teahouse. I was interested in Bonsai trees in my past life because I was always intrigued by how they looked like a fully grown tree but in a pot. So, I decided to excuse myself from my company as Peni apparently wanted to go book shopping and I found something more interesting.

I went to the teahouse and after ordering the most expensive tea in the teashop went to observe the Bonsai trees. I decided to splurge a little so that the staff is more accommodating of my actions. I have learned in the past that sometimes money can help avoid uncomfortable scenarios.

The Bonsai trees were in great shape and I wanted to touch them but the [Don't touch] signboard stopped me. I wouldn't normally care but I decided to respect the warning. While observing them I saw one tree in the corner which was whithering so I approached it to have a look. The staff that was quite tense when I was observing the trees before lowered their vigilance maybe because this tree was not that valuable.

I picked it up and took it to the counter.

"Hey, can I buy this tree?" I asked with some curiosity in my eyes. I was wondering about trying out the bond mechanism on this tree. Plants are also living so technically it should be able to bond with me no?

The old shopkeeper didn't even glance above and straightforwardly said, "50 dollars Haizi".

I was confused about whether he even saw what I was intending to buy because from my perspective the old man seemed to be engrossed in reading his book.

Still, I took out a 50 dollar bill and put it on the counter and just because of my perception I was able to see that the old man's hand reached out unnaturally fast and stored the money in the register.

I was shell-shocked by his speed and was doubtful of this old man's origin but then decided to ignore it and took my tree to a table and decided to at least enjoy the tea that had arrived since I had achieved my objective.

After a refreshing tea stop, I took my tree to Peter's house and used [Age Manipulation] while touching the withering stem.

Slowly colour returned to the tree and in a minute it was back to being full of vitality and peak condition. It needed some maintenance but otherwise, it was looking great!

I then used a small Venom Blast to blast roughly one-third of the tree and then used [Ressurection] on it.

[Starting Resurrection]

The whole world around me went dark once again, I was in the familiar room. It was only me and the Bonsai tree with a black fog hovering over it.

Then the fog faded away and I could see that the tree had recovered to its former glowing self.

I am now satisfied with the exploration of my skill. I took a can of sparkling apple juice and some Cheetos that I had hidden under the floorboards to safeguard and then just relaxed in a self-made hammock in my room in the lair that mostly survived today's clashes.
