Chapter-19: A respectabale foe

3rd POV

The brave saints and recruiting humans is an idea Kenta used to recruit some humans who worship him with full devotion. Griselda Quarta

Why does a god, like him, care about mortals and lesser beings like humans? It's simple, the reason is simple. Kenta wanted to control them and they are like pawns on the chessboard. Fodder that will deal with gathering and simple jobs. Just because a race is weak doesn't mean they are necessarily weak.

And once again who will leave lakhs even if you have crores. Just because they are other main reasons doesn't mean he can't recruit humans. There is one main problem with recruiting humans, which is to provide humans with their basic needs.

Kenta has a clear and efficient solution to the problem which is the rule that humans will provide and gather food for themselves. He basically made a rule that gods and angels shouldn't provide humans with food. And starved humans will be 'saved' from gods. Which is sending them closer to him for greater purposes.

The humans accepted his desires, once Kenta had promised them eternal riches and eternal happiness and his divine grace. The humans believed Kenta once he had shown his power. People in those days were very orthodox and very religious, so he gathered most of the canon fodder.

And one of the rare gems is Griselda Quarta who is a good magician. Kenta planned to make some magicians who could at least take out minor gods. Humans might have the least powers but their hunger, desire, and will are something which is never-ending and humans are starving within themselves day by day requiring more.

"Where the heck are you going? " A giant large eagle questioned him. And Kenta is immediately alerted by him.

Kenta stopped moving for a second and observed the giant eagle. He immediately guessed who it was.

"I presume you are Thjassi, it is a great honor to meet you. I hope we can talk diplomatically " Kenta told the giant large eagle.

"I sense some great entity and power within you. You are no ordinary being, you didn't come to this place as a tourist. " The giant eagle replied to him while analyzing his opponent's strength.

"My name is Thjassi, and it is graceful to meet you. But we both know you aren't here for pleasantries, may I ask your purpose? " Thjassi told Kenta while being as respectful as possible.

Kenta is very much pleased to see his opponent using their own brain and not attacking blindlessly and is trying to be civil and analytical, he missed having smart and respectful opponents. But still, Thjassi appears to be quite prideful and arrogant, which is natural for a bird-like him. Birds are prideful creatures.

"You seem calm and analytical so I ask you to return Idunn to me which you have kidnapped " Kenta replied to him.

The Norse goddess of fertility, Idunn , is kidnapped by the giant Thiassi. Idunn was a guardian of the fruit (usually given as apples) that kept the gods of Asgard eternally young. Due to its rejuvenating properties, the fruit was an object of desire for multiple characters who desperately wanted to get it. One of them was a giant Thjassi. He deceitfully kidnapped Idunn, taking the form of the falcon. When she was kidnapped, the gods began to age, and she was rescued from the realm of Jotunheim.

The gods have failed to retrieve her.

"The excuse of a Norse god, Loki has given this beautiful Idunn to me. I don't intend to give this girl to you, but you will kill me if I refuse to comply with you. " Thjassi replied to him

"Since I am dying here, I will request a one-on-one duel against one of your fighters, at least I want to die in a battle rather than being swatted like a fly. I wish for a death duel against one of your fighters, " Thjassi replied without any confidence.

Thjassi doesn't want to lose his honor by giving away Idunn but he has no chance against Kenta and even Thjassi himself knew by looking at Kenta to see how powerful he is. He is on a whole different level than him.

So in the end, Thjassi hoped to fight against one of Kenta's fighters and die in battle rather than being a coward and giving a beautiful maiden like Idunn. He didn't get the chance to touch Idunn. What A waste of a maiden, he thought. He didn't want to give her to Kenta, but Thjassi knew Kenta would take the maiden with force, and then they would kill him.

He didn't want to be labeled as a coward. It's better to die in battle rather than just being a wimp and giving away his possession. That's what made him accept his death and keep his pride to himself. Birds like him are prideful creatures.

Kenta, on the other hand, wished to test his commander's abilities against opponents. He has to make sure they are prepared to fight against tough enemies like celestial beings. Who is he to accept a test of how one of his commanders will battle in a pressure duel? It's not like Kenta has to lose his pawns here.

Even if his commander fails, he simply strikes Thjassi suddenly, not giving him a chance to talk or curse. Whatever happens, efficiency is efficiency, no honor or pride can replace it.

"Fine then, I will accept your proposal to a death duel. " Kenta told him.

"Brynhildr, fight him " Kenta ordered her.

"As you command, my lord " Brynhildr obeyed and positioned herself to fight Thjassi.

Brynhildr prepared her Mistilteinn Wand against her opponent; it seems she made sure she didn't underestimate her opponent. It seems like she has healthy confidence levels.

Brynhildr increased her defense using [Defensive magic] and attacked Thjassi using her sword. She attempted to slash Thjassi several times using her sword.

Thjassi tried to evade the fast and furious slashes, he managed to avoid every attack, but one of the slashes landed on his wing, and he yelped in pain. "Aaah" He cried weakly.

Thjassi this time attempted his pointy pecs and claws to pierce Brynhildr with his speed and agility. He used his famous move [Air slash] against Brynhildr.

Thjassi hit Brynhildr, using his pecks, but Brynhildr's armor managed to negate the effect of the piercing attacks Thjassi had done to her.

Brynhildr has both a sword and Mistilteinn Wand which makes her both a proficient magical and non-magical fighter.

Brynhildr has extraordinary skills in Norse magic, her knowledge, and experience succeeding all other Valkyrie. She can perform offensive defensive and supportive magic skills.

"[Acrobatics], [Swift strikes] " Brynhildr yelled out the attacks while lunging at Thjassi

"Don't reveal your attacks to the enemy. Act don't describe, " Kenta said in a loud voice warning Brynhildr.

"Sorry, my lord " Brynhildr said while keeping her attention to Thjassi's movement.

Brynhildr attempts to slash Thjassi using her swift moments. With Thjassi evading every move and retaliating with the force of his claws.

Thjassi backed down and prepared himself to attack Brynhildr using full-flight kamikaze. He used [Fire bolt] Fire magic skill against Brynhildr to push her back. It seems like he is attempting a physical and magical skill at the same time.

Brynhildr countered the [Fire bolt] using [Ice shards] And slashed Thjassi's wing exactly where she slashed before.

"To slash at the exact same location twice, you have the skill, I am glad *cough* to f-fight a good opponent before my demise " Thajassi replied while being in pain.

It seems like he himself knew he wouldn't be seeing another day in his life. The people who fight back knowing they won't fight live another day are the bravest people on the earth.

Kenta respected his resolve but at the same time, it doesn't make him pity his enemy and he is sentimental to give mercy or spare him. The only thing that is running through Kenta's mind is that Thjassi would be an efficient pawn, but he is wasted simply like that. "What a waste," Kenta thought

After a few more sparring and fighting. Brynhildr slashed Thjassi's wings, making him unable to fly.

Brynhildr used [Fire tornado] to trap Thjassi in a flame tornado completely boring his skin and wings, and unable to make his escape from it.

After the flames have disappeared only the remains of Thjassi's bones remain in the place where the flames existed.

"What a useless battle, let's find Idunn, " Kenta said while smiling at the thought of his ominous plans against Idunn which no one has a clear idea of what that might be.

Kenta commanded his forces to head towards Thjassi's nest and found Idunn with Thajassi's nest.

"Anhilinate the eggs, we don't want any revenge from his kind, " Kenta told his army.

They have eliminated the eggs and retrieved Idunn.

"Place her in the guest's bedroom, we will have deep discussion and bonding sessions when she is awake. " Kenta told his lackeys.

They have obeyed the wish of the unsympathetic tyrant. Whose true nature is yet to reveal, as we can't predict him now. Kenta planned to spend some quality time with Idunn.
