Where it Went Wrong

It went downhill from there.

‘Three years! You were under our roof for three years since she got pregnant, and you said nothing? This is treachery! Do you think now that I know you are the baby’s father, I would go willingly with it?’

‘Tory, we’re going home.’

‘No, father, we are in love.’

‘Admit it, you seduced my daughter?’

Andrew could not get a word in. His old boss was angry at him, and he understood, but he would never betray Tory and would rather take their wrath. The first rule he established was he would never break his wife’s trust, no matter what. They were in this life together.

‘We hid it from you because we knew this was going to be your reaction. That you would disapprove. We wanted to be ready financially before we told you, so even if you threw us on the street, we would not starve. I love your daughter, and I promise to take care of her. I am taking care of her.’

‘I had high hopes for you.’ Her father shook his head. Disappointment marred his face.
