“I requested for it sir but the management of St Leo’s hospital claims it was erased after the attack.”
“Since when do animals have the knowledge to destroy evidence after their attack?”
Detective White looked depressed. He wants proof of what happened but there’s no way they have any clue or even evidence. He still believes what killed his late wife might be the same wild bear that attacked his son and possibly come back to finish off his son but the nurse became the victim. He wants things to make sense rather than him getting stuck.
He makes his way to the receptionist hall and pulled his son to a corner. “I need you to tell me what attacked you in the woods.”
”It happened so fast and I’m not sure if I could paint a clear picture of it.”
“Give it a try son.”
“The creature is tall.” Lucas demonstrated with his hands.
“How tall?”
“12 feet or so.”
“And?”
“It has claws with glowing green eyes and also has fangs with a snout.”
“That doesn’t look like a bear.”
“I’m not sure if that’s a bear.”
“What do you think it is?”
“I think it’s a werewolf,” Lucas mutters.
“Werewolves aren’t real but a folktale.”
“What if they are?”
“Forget it, son, they are not real. We are Christians and we should not believe in such creatures.”
“I know but I…”
“Enough! Let me not hear that from you again. Such creatures do not exist.”
“Dad, you need to stop thinking like a Christian cop and think like a father. Perhaps it would help you come to a conclusion of what attacked me in the woods.”
BONNIE’S MAGICAL STORE
“Mistress, what do we do if the werewolves get to him first?” Ann expresses her concern.
“We have no option but to fight without him.”
“How will you stand the members of the coven to tell them you let him walk after you made contact with him?”
After Bonnie shared her visions with the members of the witches’ coven, the dark witches put her up to the task of finding Lucas. However, the white witches’ clan does not like this idea of one of their own being the one to find Lucas. They believe that Bonnie in an attempt to defend herself when faced with danger might end up killing her enemy which will eventually turn her into a dark witch. To avoid the crisis between the dark witches and the white clan witches, they decided to cast a vote and the majority of the dark witch voted that Bonnie should be the one to find Lucas since it’s her vision and her job to make sure her vision comes to pass.
“No one will know.”
“But I do Mistress.”
“Yes, and you will not say a word about it.”
If the dark witches find out that Bonnie allowed Lucas to walk away just like that, they will inflict her with severe pains that would make her bleed from both the nose and the eye. She knows how terrible the dark witches could behave and no one from the white witches’ clan dares mess with them.
“What shall we do now?” Ann’s concern is to protect the legacy of Bonnie’s grandmother and mother. She doesn’t want to see her fall into enmity with any dark witches. She too knows how ruthless they can be. She expresses her concern even after Bonnie neglected her counsel. Ann and her kind also render wise counsel to the witches they serve. That’s part of their job. But when they serve the dark witches, their counsel isn’t needed since the dark witches belittle them.
“We shall look for a way to convince him before they find him and probably force him to join their pack.”
“Mistress, you and I know this will happen.” Ann moved to one of the shelves and brought out a book. She continued in her refined voice. “Werewolves are always loyal to their alpha. We need to act now before it’s too late.”
“I will leave the task to you. When you meet him, convince him of the dangers ahead and reveal the truth about his mother to him.”
“I am honored, mistress.” Ann puts down her head slowly with a soft smile in appreciation of being worthy of the new task at hand.
HILLTOP
Stone makes his way into the werewolves camp located some kilometers away from Route 9. It’s a rocky area of the woods. They live in tents and they have been living that way for years since they moved into New Orleans. Most of them have abandoned their mansions when they heard the alpha is in town. Alpha Jones is old fashion and he detests modern life. He has lived for a thousand years. On catching the scent of Stone he quickly walked out of his tent. One thing baffles him; he can’t catch the scent of Lucas meaning that Stone might have not done his job well.
Though Alpha Jones has lived for a thousand years as a werewolf, in human form he appears to be an old man with a bald head and grey mustache with wrinkles on his body. Many of his victims have allowed his look to deceive them thinking he’s just an old man in his 90s. They are wrong in seeing him that way because looks can be deceiving when it comes to werewolves in human form. With their werewolf curse triggered, they can kick one's ass even in human form and still exhibit their supernatural ability while in human form.
Seeing Alpha Jones walk out from his tent, Stone bends a knee with his head lowered. “The boy got away,” Stone mutters below his breath.
“How did that happen?” Alpha Jones enquired.
“The witches got…”
Before Stone could finish what he has to say, Alpha Jones grabbed him by the throat and lifted him above the ground. “I will have your heart ripped out, what do you say to yourself?”
