I was currently sitting at a café with Misa in front of me. Feeling a bit awkward as we most likely looked more like a mother and son than a couple, I tried my best to hide my inner conflict.
"So, what's life in the academy like?"
It was a bit of an awkward situation. Even though we had spent two nights together, we hadn't talked with each other all that much, just a bit of everyday conversations.
"Hmm, I spend most of my time training, so I don't really know? It's fine I guess?"
A boring answer, but still the truth. I hadn't reflected a lot about my time spent in the academy, but it was by no means unbearable. In fact, I quite enjoyed this life.
Misa's sweet face met mine, "That's good. I did hear from Mike that you are quite a hard worker, I like that."
A glowing smile emerged on her face, making her already beautiful face even more inviting. We kept on making small talk, asking each other questions about each one's life. At some point, she had made another kind of inquiry,
"So, I was thinking..."
"Yes?"
"I would like us to start dating for real..."
Watching her face redden, I felt a sense of happiness. This was the first time someone wanted to be with me, as more than friends.
Still, I couldn't feel completely happy. There was still a lingering emotion of inadequacy, as well as the issue of priorities.
Nevertheless, I didn't want to let this chance go. I had spent too many years isolated and miserable, but I still had to ask,
"Why? Why do you want to be with me? I barely even reach your chest, and I have nothing. No money, no family, and no status."
"I don't know, I just like you? It's hard to explain..."
She took a second to collect her thoughts, and continued, "Money, status, or physical strength doesn't matter to me. I just like the way you work hard and act older and more mature than most."
Her face got even more flushed, " And I really like your body..."
Although she didn't give me a clear answer, I was content with her words. I looked into her deep blue eyes,
"Alright, then let's give it a try. I can't promise much though. I won't be able to treat you to dinners or buy you nice things in a long time. But I also want to try this. I enjoy being with you too."
She stretched her hand toward me, grabbing mine, and leaned over the table for a kiss.
Unfortunately for us, I couldn't reach...
"Pffft... Hahahaha!"
When she opened her eyes, wondering why the show of affection wasn't reciprocated, she burst out laughing.
The view of me trying my best to reach over the table had gotten the best of her. Feeling a bit down over my failure, I tried to make her stop,
"Please don't laugh at me..."
Wiping the tears from her eyes, she tried her best to hold it in, "I'm sorry... Pfft... You just looked so cute."
It was hard to be mad though, because she looked absolutely stunning when she was laughing.

That night I had a weird dream. I was standing in front of my three friends and the rest of my classmates.
Each and everyone were fully equipped for battle, wearing different kinds of armor and robes.
James stood at the front, wearing golden steel armor, looking a lot older than he was now.
"You went too far Miren! You know there's no going back now!"
Suddenly I was thrown into a third-person perspective, and I saw myself clad in purple leather armor, holding Khanda and Nandaka.
"I wasn't the one to go too far. They were the ones who killed her, and for some reason, you want to protect this defiled world."
"We know it was their fault, but you can't do this! Too many innocent people have already died!"
I saw myself laughing at his words, "So what? Wasn't Misa innocent as well?"
James pointed his sword towards the dream me, and screamed, "Do you think she would be happy because of this?! Do you think she would want you to do this?!"
My body raised its daggers, getting into a fighting stance, "I don't. But it sure as hell will bring me happiness watching this fucked up world crumble!"
My body flashed with purple and instantly got to the back of the group in front of him. Snakes of electricity danced around the daggers, and one head after another rolled on the ground.
In a matter of seconds, the purple flash had killed everyone except for two people. Two people who, even with their best efforts, couldn't stop the massacre.
A golden-haired woman screamed,
"Please stop! Miren, please! This isn't you!"
"Hahahaha"
A mocking laugh came from the blood-splattered small man.
"This isn't me, is it? You know damn well this is me, you stupid bitch. This is the same person who you looked down upon, and treated like a kid for all those years!"
Tears flowing from her eyes, she held her tongue, seemingly knowing she couldn't stop the rolling ball anyway.
Instead, James's sword started to glow with a golden light.
"I don't know if I can win against you Miren, but I sure as hell won't let you walk away from here alive!"
With that, the two young men clashed, and a powerful explosion occurred.
****
"Gaah!"
I woke up, covered in a cold sweat.
'What the fuck was that?!'
It didn't feel like dreams usually do, it was more real, more sincere.
"Hrmm, what's wrong Miren?"
Misa had woken up because of my sudden movement.
After we had enjoyed our coffee, I had spent the night with my, sort of, girlfriend.
"It's nothing... Just a bad dream?"
Dragging me into her embrace, she spoke "Okay then... It's still early, so let's sleep another hour then."
Not having much choice, as I was stuck in between her arms and her soft cushions, I laid still. Too awake to sleep, I instead let my mind wander.
'Was that really just a dream, or will I become some sort of supervillain, a final boss for James to kill? And why would Misa have to die? Even if we barely know each other yet, I don't want that. No, I won't let that happen!'
I let another hour go by, lying in the warmth of a girl I fancied, resolving myself not to let the vision I had seen come true.
