Jealous

"Tell me. What else are you hiding from me?" Cara asked after continuously complaining about hiding from her that I was going to the fashion show. I told her honestly that I also knew nothing about it before it happened. It was all a surprise.

"Am hiding nothing from you, Cara. Can you believe me for one time that I didn't hide a thing? All was Trevor's plan and I knew nothing about it. Believe me." she finally nodded in acceptance.

"Congratulations Linda. I wish you happiness." she hugged me tightly.

I went in for a quick shower and then came back to my bed. I lay flat on the bed as the flashes of tonight's memories kept on playing in my mind. I wondered if I was always blessed to this extent. How lucky I was to meet a handsome neighbor like this one. He was all I needed and he was all I had.

I grabbed my phone and broke the news to my sister Rose through text message. I wouldn't want her to hear this from somebody else. After sending him the message, I typed a short good night message to Trevor.

"Good night my love and thanks for giving me happiness." after placing the send button, I switched off my phone and closed my eyes.

The night was long and quiet. My throat was dry and I could not sleep. I slowly strolled out of my bedroom and walked to the kitchen. I emptied a glass of warm water and slowly sat on the couch. I wondered how difficult tomorrow was gonna be once I stepped into the miles corporation. All things were going to turn around and I clearly knew that my colleagues would funnily look at me.

It was already 7 in the morning when I woke up. I saw Cara carrying a tray of food and coffee plus juice. This was her morning routine. She was a great cook and I enjoyed each and every meal she made. She was so talented and the luckiest man was the one who could cherish her and love her wholeheartedly.

We ate our breakfast quickly since we had pending work at the office. I had to prepare myself well for the eyes and words I was going to face later.

We joined Trevor and Chris who was already waiting downstairs. We jumped in the car and Chris started driving right away. We passed through the crowded streets as everyone was rushing to get to work. Trevor held my hand tightly throughout the journey to the office. He occasionally placed butterfly kisses on my hand and I loved it. He sincerely loved me for who I am and so did I. I didn't mind how filthy rich he was or which status he was in. All I ever wanted was to be loved sincerely and that's what I got from Trevor.

Chris continuously stole glances at Cara who was behaving like she doesn't care. There was a tense atmosphere in the front seat. Cara liked Chris but she tried to show him that she was taken already. Chris liked Cara but didn't know how to start opening up to her after he had embarrassed her back in his college days.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity as we were stuck in the jam, we reached the front of the tall and exquisite building of the miles corporation. To everyone's surprise, the reporters were already staged in front of the building. They seemed to have waited since morning. I shivered because this wasn't the kind of life I wanted to live. I wanted a quiet love life out of public sight. It's what I had agreed upon with Trevor but he decided to make it public.

"What to do now?" I asked as my lips trembled in nervousness.

"Chris," Trevor called.

"Yes, boss."

"Go directly to the garage and make sure these reporters disappear from here," he commanded, his voice being authoritative not like his usual soft and calm one.

Chris immediately drove to the basement garage but it wasn't as clear as we expected it to be. It was occupied by one person who made my heart skip. The air around me suddenly became cold as my eyes landed on her. It was the mighty Carol.

She was the city's mighty model and everyone referred to her as the mighty Carol. My eyes fell on Trevor who carried a cold aura. I watched his eyes turn darker as he slid his hand into the pocket.

"Babe.." the mighty Carol quickly came closer to him and hugged him without minding my presence. I stood still like a hint of jealousy took over my heart. I suddenly felt my position get lowered as Trevor stiffly stood without even pushing her away.

I felt my knees weaken. I didn't know much about how lovely they used to be. Maybe or probably they had strong love. They had been together for years and one could define that their bond used to be strong.

Cara held my wrist and nodded assuring me that everything was not as I expected it. After a few moments, we saw the reporters break-in. Carol was still hugging Trevor tightly. She smirked mockingly at me as the reporters started taking their pictures. Chris tried to stop them but they knew their job. They never flinched.

Trevor came back to his senses as the camera flashes hit his face. Oh no, he was doomed. This isn't what he wanted. What about Linda? He realized that he hadn't let go of Carol completely when she hugged him. His blood stopped running in his veins.

He carefully pushed Carol away and reminded himself that she cheated on her. She was a freaking cheater and gold digger. All she wanted was fame. She was always running from one entertainment company to another just to sleep with the bosses and gain more fame. He can't possibly think about her. She was not worth thinking about.

"Mr. Trevor, are you still in love with the mighty Carol?"

"Mr. Trevor Martins, were you trying to find out if Carol still loves you when you proposed to your employee? Was it all fake?"

"Mr. Trevor Martins, are you becoming a womanizer? Were you always like this?"

"Do you love Carol or your employee?"

The reporters shoot rapid questions at him. Carol was grinning from ear to ear as everything going on was his plan. She organized this and it was going on smoothly. She had hooked up with many rich and handsome guys but Trevor Martins was still the one in her heart. She loved him but her greed was continuously overtaking her. This time around, she had come to take what belonged to her. She wanted to change and only for him.

I carefully reached for the elevator and stepped in before placing the button to go upstairs. Everything was already annoying and she couldn't stand it. I reached her table but someone was already waiting there.

"What do we call you here? Mrs. Linda or what?" It was Bella. She was mocking me this time.

"Good morning Bella." I greeted her without minding what she wanted.

"It's a good morning on my side Linda but..." she said as she stood up and walked closer to me.." I don't think it's a good one on your side." she continued. I knew what she meant but I didn't care. She could mock me or laugh loudly at me all she wanted.

"I have work to do miss Bella. See you around." I said while opening my drawer. I picked up my drawing book and left the office. I had a lot of work to do so I had to give myself adequate space and chase my dreams.

Meanwhile in the parking lot. Reporters were anxious to get answers from the CEO of the miles corporation.

"As I said, I always choose a time to make my life private and when to make it public. It was clear last night because everyone saw me propose to the one I love. I hope you can take your leave now." Trevor's demeanor was cold and it could freeze anyone around the place.

After his words, he walked forward since he had clarified everything already. He had seen Linda leave the garage hurting. He knew he didn't do good but he wanted to follow what he thought was right.

Carol tried to follow behind him but he gestured his hand for her to stop. They hadn't met for two months and he had turned into a different person. She was the one in shame at this moment. Her initial plan was to shame Linda and take back Trevor but it all turned around and she was the one ashamed by his simple answer.

The reporters turned to her to shoot their annoying questions.

"Miss Carol, are you sure you are the one that Trevor Martins loves?"

"What are you going to do after being rejected by your ex-boyfriend?"
