Carol was surrounded by the news hungry reporters that she herself had invited. Things were twisted and they were now pointing at her. Within minutes, there were two hot and confusing new all over the web.
'The CEO of miles corporation is so daring. He broke up with his fiancee 13 hours after he proposed to the poor beautiful girl in public.' #1
'Watch as the CEO of miles corporation, Trevor Martins slapped the mighty Carol's face.'#2
Comments rushed in as some sympathized Linda and others mocked Carol.
I reached my destination where I was supposed to meet my client. I entered the tall building of the Genot enterprises. I felt everyone stare at me as they whispered but I didn't give it a thought. I reached at the reception and asked for her assistance where she took me up to the 9th floor. There were five rooms on the floor and judging from there looks, they were all sound proof. It looked like the owner was so secretive that he constructed it this way.
I was told by the receptionist to wait at the waiting seat as she walked to the secretary. They talked and the secretary came to me, from there she guided me to a big office. A lot of furniture was designed in white and black. I could already tell it was a woman's office.
"Miss please wait here. Our boss should be here soon." the secretary said as she served me a bottle of water and then advanced to the door.
I patiently waited as I admired everything in the office. The waiting couch was purely white. The floor and the ceiling were all black.
I was a little bit startled from my gaze when I saw the book shelf open. Wow, it was another door but someone could tell it was one unless it was open. A familiar figure walked out stepping loudly on the floor.
' Bella?' I said inwardly as I watched her stance firmly infront of me.
"Surprised, ain't you?" she stated as she took a seat across me.
"Yes. Are you the client am here to meet?" I surprisingly asked because I didn't know what was going on.
"What do you think? Does this office not suit me or my character?" She uttered but I looked at her blankly. Even if it was hers, why did she have to invite me here.
"Let's cut it already Bella. Just tell me the reason why you called me here." I wasn't interested in what she had or what she was capable of doing. I still had pending work and my mood was not as good as a joking one.
"How much do you need to let go of Trevor?" She asked calmly while playing with her fingers.
I had expected her motive of calling me here to be having a connection with Trevor but I didn't think she could be this straight.
I quietly scanned her expression before responding to her. "What do you mean miss Bella? I don't understand what you are talking about." I turned to look at her angry eyes. She seemed unpleasant with my attitude but I also couldn't help.
"Money, cars, house, mention it Linda. I can give it to you if you leave him alone. I can even arrange for you a good job abroad." Was she kidding me? How serious she sounded while saying this? Did he love Trevor to this extent?
I ran quiet again and didn't say anything to her. I was already disturbed by what happened in the morning. The flashes of Carol hugging Trevor occupied my mind again and I gritted my teeth. I wasn't angry with anybody, I was angry at myself. How could I quickly fall for a man who was being chased by all these beautiful and successful women.
"Don't get angry Linda." she uttered, waking me up from my thoughts.
"I mean I have loved this man for five years. Look at this company Linda, it's all mine and I have grew it by myself. My father is among the top ten richest men in the city. He can give me all I want but he can't give me the man I love. I left all this behind and became his secretary only to get closer to him.." she paused her words and sighed heavily.
"I have tried Linda but he never looks at me twice." I met her eyes which were tearing.
I felt bad for her. I have heard different stories about her but she did all she could to find love and still failed.
"Don't cry Bella. It's nothing." I tried comforting her but she was determined.
"Please Linda, he is all I want. I can exchange all I have to get him." She held my hand as a child hoping for permission to eat a candy.
"Bella you just need to calm down and remind yourself that he isn't your man." I said holding her hand tightly.
"Neither does he belong to me." I continued as pictures of this morning replayed in my head.
Trevor belonged to Carol. His relationship with Carol was known by the world. He just came to me when he was broken and now he was back to the love of his life.
I watched Bella beg me to leave Trevor but I pitied her because this one sided love could make her cry even louder than now. I was already in love with the man she yearned for and I was already hurting. It was a public secret that he loved me but the thing was that he still had feelings for his ex.
Meanwhile at the miles corporation.
Trevor was not satisfied with walking and ran faster to find his girl. She must have got it otherwise. he thought inwardly as he increased his pace. He checked her department and she wasn't around. He went to the tailoring area and she wasn't there as well.
"Check my office." he said as he rushingly advanced for his office.
All the employees looked at him surprisedly. He was like a father looking for his lost daughter.
He reached inside his office but she was nowhere. He wanted to explain everything to her. He wanted to tell her that everything was not as she saw it. He wanted to embrace her and tell her how much he loves her but she wasn't around.
He grabbed his phone and dialed her number and as luck was on his side, she answered.
"Babe, where are you babe? I can't find you anywhere." his voice was full of worry. He didn't know if she was angry at him but all this could be explained if she was here right next to him.
"Am out meeting a client. What's wrong? Why are you panting?" I tried sounding unconcerned about what happened.
"The elevator was not working and I took the stairs." he tried calming down his fast breath.
"I will get back to you later because I'm in the middle of the meeting. bye." I hung up immediately without waiting for his reply. Bella was looking at me with a questioning look but I told her nothing.
Without more words for her, I stood up and bowed respectively then left her office.
Bella watched Linda leave the office. Her words kept on playing in Bella's mind.
' he is not your man and neither am i.' Was she serious or was she trying to discourage her. She was willing to have him but she could never harm anyone. She effortlessly stood up from her seat and stood near the glass window. She looked at the beautiful and big city and asked herself if he couldn't find someone else to love.
"Where is your friend?" Chris asked Cara who was filling her cup with water in the pantry.
"What do you want to do with my friend?" Cara was behaving arrogant again.
"She's been missing since the scenario in the parking lot." he uttered but Cara only rolled her eyes on him.
"What do you men think you are? You think that women should hold on to your pants even when you reject them?" Cara unknowingly responded in anger. One person he didn't want to see was Chris and another one he didn't want to see with Chris.
Chris was surprised by Cara's attitude. He only asked about her friend but she was unbelievably angry.
"Calm down Cara, just tell me where Linda is." Chris tried to catch her attention again.
"She has work to do and not to watch love scenes okay." with that, Cara strolled out of the pantry angrily.
Chris stoop there shocked as she watched her figure sway outside. This girl was unbelievably stubborn and he smiled unknowingly. He quickly pinched his cheek to become serious again and left the room hurriedly. He had to report to his boss before his legs got swollen from looking for the woman who was out attending to the company's work.
It's good that her emphasis was on work and not anything like collecting tons of money from the rich man.
