Conditions

A few minutes later, Maya came back with two male servers. "Ma'am. We are gonna be adding the table now." Maya said sweetly. Jeanohntae smiled and told everyone to stand.

The three men did not know what was happening but listened to Jeanohntae. As soon as they all stood up, the servers added an extra table to theirs.

When they were done, Jeanohntae was rearranging all the food. She asked for the menus again and handed them to the bodyguards. "Here, pick whatever you want to eat and come sit and join us."

Joseph and Rudy looked surprised at Jeanohntae's gesture, but Christian was smiling. 'She always was gentle and kind to everyone.'

The bodyguards hesitated before taking the menu. They looked at Christian for approval, but did not get any. Christian did not want to get between Jeanohntae and her commands. It may not seem like it, but Christian is a little scared of Jeanohntae when she is the one bossing people around.

Jeanohntae followed their gaze and chuckled. "You don't need to worry about him or any of them. He won't say or do anything." As Jeanohntae finished talking, the bodyguards shyly took the menu. Jeanohntae took her seat and the rest followed after. The bodyguards sat down on the end of each side next to their respected bosses.

Jeanohntae wanted the bodyguards to relax a little bit. "Go ahead and order as much as you want. And don't worry, it's not gonna be deducted from your pay. This will be my treat."

Their hearts melted again. "Ms. Jean. You are too kind to us." Lennie said gratefully.

The table got a little too quiet for Jeanohntae. She could not stand the silence so she decided to break the ice. "So, tell me a little about each of you."

The bodyguards were surprised. No one has ever asked them anything like that before. Dan went first. "Well, my name is Daniel but everyone calls me Dan. I'm 27 years old. My father was a bodyguard for as long as I can remember. So I guess I just took after my old man. I did not understand why my father loved it so much, but now I know. He loved it because his employers were all nice to him. Just like you guys are to me."

Joseph and Christian smiled. They never thought of asking about that before. Now the are interested in hearing everyone. Jojo was up next. "My name is JonnyJohn. Everyone just calls me Jojo because my name is too long. I'm 35 years old. I was in the police force for about five years before I became a bodyguard two years ago. Honestly, I enjoy this job a lot more."

Everyone was surprised to find out that Jojo was a police officer. Jeanohntae turned to Kylee. "I guess that means I'm up next."

Kylee was nervous, but Jeanohntae held her shoulders and nodded slightly with a smile. Kylee got a little more confident and explained. "Well, my name Kylee. I'm 25 years old. I grew up in a small home protecting my younger siblings from bullies. I felt like this job would be best suited for me. Plus, I get to help my family out by bring in some income for them."

Rudy was touched. Kylee's story reminded him about how Jeanohntae was. She's quiet,but stands up for anyone being bullied.

Everyone looked at Lennie who looked like he was about to cry. "Are you okay Lennie!??" Jeanohntae asked in concern.

Lennie smiled and slightly tilted his head. "I'm okay Ms. Jean." Lennie was nervous to tell his story and Christian saw it in his eyes. "That's okay if you don't want to say it. We don't judge." Christian explained.

Lennie took a deep breath. "My name is Leonard. I'm mainly known as Lennie. I'm 29 years old. Umm…" Lennie paused for a bit and Jeanohntae was worried. "Lennie, you don't need to tell us if it's hard for you." Lennie shook his head. "No, I need to say it. I have been hiding behind it for so long. It's time for me to tell someone."

Everyone listening closely. Lennie looked at all eyes on him and took another deep breath. "I am an orphan. When I was 15 years old. I lost my baby sister to cancer. She was only 13 years old. Later that year, my mother hung herself and my father was a no show. I've never even met him. So social services took care of me, and I was eventually placed into the foster system. I made a vow to myself. Since I could not protect my family, that I would protect someone else's family. I may not be able to protect anyone from a disease, but I would be able to protect anyone from anything else. Even if it costs me my life."

Jeanohntae's heart broke after hearing Lennie's story. "I'm so sorry Lennie. You went through so much alone." She started to cry a little. Rudy and Joseph gave their condolences while Christian remained quiet. He could not imagine his life if he lost anyone dear to him.

Joseph wanted to cheer up Lennie. "How about dessert!?? Let's order everything on the menu and you guys eat to your hearts content. Everyone's spirit started to be lifted.

They all laughed and joked with each other, including Christian. The ice cold boss was enjoying the company of his bodyguards.

After a long and joyous day they spent at the restaurant, they decided to call it a day. Christian suggested to stay at the hotel for the night. Everyone agreed and booked two presidential suite, one with two rooms.

At that moment, Ruth and Butler Lu showed up at the same time and called Christian. However, their calls did not go through as they called at the same time. Christian was wondering why he did not receive any phone calls and decided to go out and check. He saw both their vehicles right next to each other and shook his head.

He went In between both vehicles and knocked on the windows. Christian reimbursed them and took the bags in. He did not let anyone see the bags and brought it to the front desk to ask someone to bring it up to the room.

Everyone said goodnight and entered their rooms. As everyone entered their rooms, the bodyguards switched off and would be back in the morning.

In Jeanohntae and Christian's room.

Christian set the bags in the closet and slowly closed it. Jeanohntae was in the shower taking a bath. When she came out, she saw Christian going through some documents. "What are you working on!??"

Christian looked up and saw Jeanohntae in her pajamas. "I'm just going through everyones applications that applied for a job and seeing how the all current workers progress is going." Jeanohntae sat down next to him. "Mind if I take a look at the applications!??"

Christian did not mind and handed her the file. They silently looked through Christian's work together. Jeanohntae was so focused, she saw a profile that looked fitting for the company. "How about her!??"

Christian looked at the file and lifted a brow at Jeanohntae and smirked. "Why do you suggest her!??" Jeanohntae did not have much experience with hiring people, but she does know a little knowledge about what the company is looking for.

Jeanohntae explained herself. "Well, I can tell by her profile that she is very well educated. If you look right here at her experience, education and certifications. It's everything your company is looking for. However, if you still have a small doubt about her, you can always do a little test to double check."

Christian was surprised about Jeanohntae's explanation. "Wow! Maybe you should consider working at the company after all. You can become the new boss for the Human Resource Department."

Jeanohntae laughed and stood up. I don't think that position should be filled by me. Maybe someone more qualified. Christian stood up and hugged Jeanohntae. "Jean, never doubt yourself. You could already tell if a person would be a good fit. You're very thorough when looking for an employee. Plus, you can even help take the stress off of Ruth's shoulders. She is my assistant and the boss of that very department."

Jeanohntae thought about it for a little bit. "Okay fine. But only to help Ruth. She has been kind to me since we first met." Christian was ecstatic. "Okay, you can start when we get back."

Jeanohntae thought that was too soon. She still needed to learn a lot more. "Wait Chris! I have two conditions. First, you need to teach me everything about the Human Resource Department. Second, never tell anyone that we are dating, because we are not. Just say we are friends and you are helping me."

Christian sighed in disappointment. "If those are your only conditions, I agree. I'll teach you everything and I'll only say we're are friends even though you know how I feel." Christian gave a sad face.

Jeanohntae felt bad about her second condition. She did not want to hurt Christian's feelings, but it was true. They were not dating, and if Christian was to be asked if they were dating, he would not deny it. So she had to make it clear.

They decided to leave the application for when Jeanohntae started work. She would be the one to handle it. However, they were exhausted and went to bed.
