Synopsis

Layla is a small town band teacher who doesn’t have time for a relationship. Fun? What’s that? Sex? Never heard of it. All she cares about is her job and protecting the funding for her department.

All that changes when she sees Derek Taylor, or more specifically Derek Taylor’s sexy, red pants. The man dares to insult one of her students while she’s trying to enjoy a piece of pie, and it’s game on. She does’t care if he’s a famous rock star or that his lust-inducing pants make her want to throw her job out the window for one evening so she can rub herself all over them instead. Who cares if those long, piano player fingers of his make her wonder exactly what other seductive skills they possess?

No one insults her students and walks away unscathed.

Will Layla make room for a new star in her life or will she think he’s only playing games?

Author’s note: I typically write fantasy novels, in particular BL. This book is an earlier attempt of mine at contemporary romance. Please be forewarned. There will be a lot of sex in this book, and some swearing, too. Definitely not for the easily offended. When complete, this is intended to be a collection of four volumes, one focused on each of the band members (with the possibility of a m/m/f throuple in the last volume for those of you who aren’t faint of heart).

As I am working on two books simultaneously, for this one, I will post updates 2-3 days a week. Please consider adding to your collections! Also, this author LOVES to communicate with readers, so please leave all the messages if you are so inclined. If I receive enough collections/power stones, I will increase to four chapters per week.

Please read on for a (slightly) steamy excerpt from vol. 1 to whet your appetite!

"You know what I think? I think you wanted me to be that guy. You wanted to be able to go back to your life and say that I was the one who used you." He slid his hand behind her head, wrapping his fingers around the base of her ponytail, and tilting her head back.

She gasped again, but the sound was cut off when he covered her mouth with his. He wasn't gentle. He took what he wanted from her, with his tongue, his lips, wringing a whimper from her throat that betrayed her lust for him. Proving that everything he'd just said was true.

He pulled back with a smirk. "I thought so. You want me to use you, don't you? You need an excuse, right?"

"Derek, I..."

He backed her up toward the piano, his movements full of intent. Every nerve in her body on fire with a need to be touched by this man. Just one more time. Just one more time and maybe she'd have enough of him. Maybe, finally then he'd realize he had enough of her.

"No. I'm done with trying to talk to you. That's never been what you really wanted. It took me awhile, but I finally see that." His jaw ticked. "I'll be your excuse. I'm fine with that."

Her back hit the edge of the piano near the keyboard. Derek pushed the bench out of the way with a booted foot and stood before her, pinning her against the dark brown wood. He was so close, she had to arch her back to look up at him.

"You don't know what I want." Her voice came out all husky, and he smirked again.

There are only six chapters up so far, but I wanted to leave a review early on to encourage the author to keep going. This seems like it’s going to be a fun story. I already love the sexual tension between Layla and Derek. The writing is great and very easy to read. I like that the characters seem like real, every day people. So far, so good!

This novel grabbed me from the first chapter - LivChanin’s plot, character development, setting, wordplay, and brilliantly-believable psychological and compelling romantic narrative combine to make this my favorite new work of the year. I laugh, cry, mourn, swoon and share my care & concern during each moment of this compelling story. I find myself re-reading chapters nit only because they are beautifully craftes, but also because I just can’t wait for the next chapter to be released! DAG P.S. One delightful detail I must mention is that even the charming names of the protagonists - Derek & Layla - fills my heart with joy. For those who love rock & roll music history, look up the early work of guitarist & singer Eric Clapton and his friends in the band called “Derek & the Dominoes” and there you will find their now-mega-classic song “Layla” (1970). Did LivChanin honor Derek & Layla or it simply a musical miracle? The author need not say - I’m okay with letting a mystery remain a mystery!
