Dark River Pack

Dark River Pack was not like any other pack in the werewolf's world, they had one thing no pack had. And no don't think it was the warriors or having a great Alpha and Luna or being a peaceful pack.

Dark River Pack had a future alpha female, and it was a must for her to go on the journey, 'an adventure' as Cassie likes to call it. She was the first female alpha in their history, and that made the werewolves even sadder than the thought of their pack being cursed.

In Dark River Pack, the future alpha had to leave their home on a quest to find an answer, and after they found they were to come back home and take over from the current alpha and led the pack.

It didn't matter how long the quest took, be it a week or days, or years. It had to be done. And at the end of the quest, the curse would be uplifted and the future alpha would go back home and begin his rule as the alpha of the pack.

It had happened for a long period, Cassie's father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather had gone through it. And as much Cassie, her parents, and the pack wished she wouldn't go, she had to.

It was important for the pack or all of them would perish and their existence would be wiped off from everyone who knew about them. And those were not the only repercussions that would fall under the pack if the future alpha didn't go on the quest, others were worse.

Can you imagine the worst repercussion other than a pack perishing and being wiped off from existence?

Yeah, that was how important the quest was.

The future alpha was also supposed to leave for the quest as soon as they transformed.

In Dark River Pack the werewolves transformed when they hit seventeen years. That was way better for the future alpha because, at that age, the future alpha would have matured enough and be ready.

But it was not for Cassie Harrington, the first future alpha female.

"Moon Goddess please, take away this curse from my family." Luna River had kept on praying over and over asking the moon goddess for help but the answer was never answered. She became more resilient in her prayers even after her daughter had transformed.

As if luck was not on Alpha Rowan and his mate, they had given birth to a girl. They had cried in joy and sadness when Cassie was born, but they didn't have any option, and after sometimes, they accepted it.

Alpha Rowan and Luna River had nurtured their daughter well as best as they could. They made sure she had everything, after all, she was the only hope of the family and Dark River Pack.

But on one full moon, something happened, something which shook the pack to its core, and every werewolf became sad for the next week or so. During that week the whole pack was in deep sadness and it was not compared to when Cassie was born.

The moon goddess had decided to give Cassie her wolf one year before the year which was the correct year for the werewolves to transform for their first time.

Cassie transformed when she was sixteen and that proved to the pack how cursed they were, not only the Dark River but also his family. Cassie's transformation had made her mother cry, and nothing had worked on her for a long period.

It was overwhelming to know her beloved child was going to leave the pack for the quest at such a tender age.

After Alpha Rowan, the Luna and the pack accepted the fact that the future alpha was going to be a female alpha he had to try and look for a way out.

Alpha Rowan Harrington wasn't available for his Luna as he was busy dealing with an important matter, he had left the pack for the beta to look over. He was attending an important meeting with some of the alphas to see if they would find a solution for his pack and his daughter.

Coming back from the meeting and hearing of what had transpired while he was away during the full moon, he had become angry that he had yelled and cursed the moon goddess, who had replied with a booming voice, with one sentence Alpha Rowan won't forget, ever.

"BE CAREFUL ALPHA ROWAN HARRINGTON!"

Getting that from a moon goddess, Alpha Rowan had feared for his life, and after a week he went back and pleaded for her daughter. It was surprising since the moon goddess got the same request from the pack itself, Luna River, and Cassie herself.

"Please don't give my daughter a mate, yet!" Alpha Rowan had cried out loud.

In the werewolf world, the moon goddess gave each werewolf a mate with whom they would stay forever as soulmates.

As soon as the werewolves transformed, they would get themselves a mate, sometimes the mates happened to be a friend, a brother's friend even an enemy, and other times they would get their mates from the neighboring pack and sometimes, but rarely they got human mates.

The moon goddess had done that, those cries were too much.

Unaware that the werewolves and her parents had prayed the same prayer she did, Cassie Harrington was so happy she hadn't met her mate.

During the first week after her transformation, when the Dark River Pack had been sad, Cassie was the one comforting them and giving everyone hope that she was going to finish the quest and come home safe.

She was the one keeping the pack stable.

Her comforting words had worked out fine and none of the werewolves had run to the moon goddess and cursed her. One thing Cassie knew was if any werewolf tried to curse the moon goddess, the pack would have to face her wrath.

However, as she was busy comforting the pack at the period no one did the same to her. She was a strong girl, yes, but deep down, her heart was breaking into pieces over and over.
