Several times, Archer managed to evade the alien's attacks but it was always a close shave right at the heels of Ava's dire warnings. He couldn't keep up this tightrope walk for long because Archer was only human, having limited human reserves of energy and the human nature to make mistakes.
"No weak spot?" Ava asked him when she saw that he had disappeared from view. The alien was also looking for him by destroying the walls that could provide its prey with some cover.
"None from what I can see," she heard his breathless voice return. "The bullets aren't even making a dent on that hard carapace."
"How do we kill it then?"
"We have to find out if it has a vulnerable belly and then take advantage of it with a few critical strikes."
