Spreading his wings

"King, what's your status?" Archer said into the mic embedded in his helmet. The reply came after a soft beep.

"We were attacked by the same tube like creature that's all over the place. If I'm not wrong, they're all part of a single body that's spreading its arms like roots through the moon. When we reached the end of the hole, we saw that it bottoms out over a part of the creature's body."

Ji-ho was unnerved by the thought of a sentient being having taken control of this moon. She had read plenty of cosmic horror and it seemed as if she had become trapped in one. What had been a dangerous rescue operation was now a fight for survival against unknown enemies.

"It tried to absorb us both into its flesh but we narrowly escaped with our lives. Sir, I fear we've lost Commander Petrov to it."

Ji-ho was able to hear their conversation as it was going on through the team channel. King's report was bad news if she'd ever heard one.
