“No, it is my turn to hide! Tell her, Ma Ivy!” Selina cried. Ivy straightened from pruning her roses and eyed the five-year-old toddler who now stood beside her tugging at her apron.
“Tamara, play fair with your sister, please! She found you and now it is her turn to hide!” Ivy said.
Her foster kids were what brought life to her castle each day. Their excited chatter and childish merry laughter always made Ivy enjoy being at home.
“Selina opened her eyes when I ran to hide! That’s how she found me quickly. She cheated!” Tamara, her six-year-old foster child, complained.
“Okay! How about you both go hide, and I will come and find you?” Ivy said as she placed the pruning shears she was holding carefully into a toolbox.
“Really?” Selina asked excitedly.
“You are still here? Nine-eight-seven…” Ivy closed her eyes and counted. She heard Selina and Tamara giggle before the sound of little feet pattered away.
