Chapter 20: Threat or Friendly Warning?

(Beth’s POV)

I sleep for several hours until I’m gently shaken awake by Anthony. He’s fully dressed in his usual button-down and slacks. Even his hair is styled and slicked back. He warmly smiles down at me, hands moving to brush stray hairs out of my face.

“We are getting ready to land. How are you feeling?” He asks. Is it just me or is his voice deeper and huskier than normal? The stubble on his face also tells me he hasn’t shaved in a few days. Why is he looking at me like that? What did I do? “Did you hear me?”

I shake my head. “No. I’m sorry. I was looking at your face. You haven’t shaved. It suits you. You look nice.”

He chuckles, “I just didn’t have a razor with me to do my face. I am going to shave when we get to the house. But thank you.”

My face falls. “No! Don’t shave yet. I like the shadow. It suits you!”

Rolling his eyes, he tugs the blankets off me. “We’ll see. How are you feeling?”
