Chapter 19: Opposites Attract

(Beth’s POV)

I’m in a dark room. Why am I back in a dark room? No. No. No! I struggle to stand and move around but I’m frozen in place. I try to scream out, but my mouth doesn’t respond to my commands either. I’m trapped.

I look around the room in hopes to see something, whether it be a light or a person. But nothing. It’s cold and wet. The floor is slimy and sticky. It’s a sensation that freaks my brain out as it sloshes against my feet. What is causing it to slosh?

“Bethany? Oh, naïve, Bethany. When will you learn?” Anthony’s voice calls from the left.

Anthony is here? Why is he here? To help? I want to cry out to him, but my mouth doesn’t open. What’s wrong with me?

A light flickers on overhead, revealing Anthony. But it isn’t the Anthony I know. His sleeves are rolled up and he’s covered in blood. He has a grim look on his face. “I’m sorry, Bethany. I never should have hired you. You understand what must happen now, right?” He brushes his fingers against my cheek.
