Chapter 47: A Survivor of the Ages

(Beth’s POV)

The rest of the time flies by and eventually, we are reminded by Griffin and Lorenzo that we all still have responsibilities. We hesitantly make our way to the airport and the excruciatingly long plane ride back to New York.

While everyone is dreading the return to life, I’m eager for it. I’m returning with a new sense of purpose and meaning. The ride is quiet, everyone recollecting themselves for a busy week of work.

About midway through the ride, I’m making a snack for Anthony, Griffin, and me when Griffin’s phone rings. His face hardens and he answers it with a terse hello.

Griffin stays silent while Anthony and I watch impatiently. After a moment Griffin sighs hard under his breath, the sound coming out more like a growl.

“Yes, yes. I understand. I get it. Just clean it up and I’ll do the rest.” Griffin ends the call and slams his head back against the headrest. “Motherf*cking son of a b*tch!”
