SERINE'S POV
Standing under a stream of water so hot it almost burned, Serine could almost block out the thoughts running through her head. She hadn't been able to sleep at all and had spent most of the night staring blankly at the ceiling. There was a faint knock and Serine reluctantly shut the water off. She stepped out of the shower and wrapped a robe around herself.
"Who is it?" she called, walking into the living room of the suite.
"It's Lena, dear," came the response. "I have your breakfast."
Rolling her eyes, Serine opened the door and stepped aside.
Lena pushed her way into the room carrying a covered tray. She walked to the kitchenette and set it down on the counter. "I hope you like eggs," she said cheerfully.
"Can I ask you a question?" Serine asked quietly.
"Of course," Lena replied, wiping her hands on her apron.
"Why are you being so nice?"
Lena laughed and Serine wasn't sure if that was better than the cook's anger.
