Chapter 36: Let’s Talk

REM'S POV

Rem had managed to get a few hours of restless sleep before worry over Serine drove them out of the cot they'd chosen. Sighing, Rem scrubbed their face with the heel of their hands and stood. They briefly considered heading back to the kitchen area but shook their head and retraced their steps to the entrance.

As they walked, Rem watched the other shifters. The warehouse was undeniably an interesting place. The makeshift walls gave the residents a bit of privacy and everyone seemed to have enough to keep them happy.

Shaking their head, Rem squashed the feelings of jealousy that started to brew. Even if they'd known this was here, they wouldn't have come. They shouldn't be here now, given the danger they posed while Isaiah was looking for them.

"Oh right," they said to themselves. "I'm dead." Rem huffed a laugh and walked into the entrance area.
