Chapter 50: A New Life

Rem's POV

Aching muscles and a deep, gnawing hunger brought Rem back to unwilling consciousness. They laid still, trying to remember where they were. They blinked, looking around, and didn't recognize anything. They went to sit up but a warm weight kept them pinned. Rem smiled and relaxed as they saw Serine, asleep and pinning their numb arm down.

They brushed her cheek with one hand and whispered her name. Serine groaned and stretched, having only been resting her eyes. She looked up and smiled as well.

"Hey," she said.

"Hey," Rem replied. Their stomach loudly protested the simple conversation and Rem frowned.

Serine giggled and sat up. "I'll order some food." She dug around for the cash and hopped off the bed. Oblivious to Rem watching her, she quickly ordered a pizza delivery using the room's phone.

"You look beautiful, angel," Rem said, shaking their arm. Tingling had set in and it was uncomfortable to say the least.
