Alex watched as Peter's olive-colored skin turned red like a fire truck. She was certain her cheek color matched his. The fact that Peter knew so much about her was both intriguing and enthralling. Yet, a small part of her was frightened by how much she enjoyed the fact that he knew her so well.
After the game, the men retired to the living room to watch TV. The women stayed in the dining room, chatting and polishing off the remaining bottle of wine. The kids were all snug as bugs inside sleeping bags in their makeshift tents.
Alex felt a little squirrelly. Typically, she could hold her own drinking beer, but wine proved to have a different effect on her.
They were having such a great time they decided another bottle of wine was in order. Alex volunteered to get it from the kitchen. As she opened the bottle, she could hear Kate and Beth whispering to each other in the dining room. Why did her friends feel the need to whisper?
