Alex conceded to taking Peter with her on the Mexico trip, which was now only one week away. Needing to get their plans in order, they headed over to Jeff and Kate's for dinner and trip planning. Kate served one of her specialties for dinner, take-out Chinese. It arrived at the house the same time Alex and Peter did. Beth, Ken, and the kids were already there.
Beth smiled warmly at Alex. "It's not so bad. The way you made it sound on the phone, I expected the bruising to look much worse."
Alex sighed. She knew her friend was trying to be nice, but the way the twins were eyeing her reassured her of her own sound assessment. She was a hideous sight.
The twins still gawked. Who wouldn't? She looked like she got hit by a semi-truck.
"Holy smokes, what happened to you?" Anthony blurted.
"Did you fall down?" Andrew asked.
Kate grabbed the boys by their hands and hauled them into the living room before Alex could respond.
