Chapter 23: A Kings Judgement II

Tentatively, Dominic stopped saying his chant and left the shadows. When he reached the steps below the dais, he bowed before his monarch.

'You thought yourself well hidden no doubt, but I knew where you were. You let your guard down for a moment when the Ericssons arrived.' King Terion's voice exuded warmth as he spoke to Dominic.

'You might be interested to hear, before coming here Lady Thalia and I talked for quite some time. She told me a little about you and your adventures. She was extremely excited about a peculiar talent you displayed during her rescue.'

Dominic kept silent. Today's outcome was far less than he hoped for, but he worried he did not have the right words to voice his frustration to the most powerful man in Aria. At least not in a way that would not result in him being severely reprimanded.
