Reyka stood amid the crowd, as gorgeous as ever but with a huge scowl on her face. Rain noticed, unfortunately, the scars around her throat.
She swallowed, a bit of guilt for hurting such a beautiful woman, like destroying a work of art. But she would never apologize. Reyka had attacked her first.
“I told you not to come near my mate, Reyka,” Orion growled, arms tightening around Rain.
Reyka huffed, crossing her arms with attitude. “Your mate? What a joke. That lowly thing could hardly be called a shifter, let alone our Luna.”
“Reyka!” Orion warned, teeth showing as he glared at her.
“Just because you’re too blind to see it doesn’t mean I’m not! She’s still a Rogue-Born! She doesn’t know anything about us or our ways. She doesn’t belong here!” Reyka argued, snarling right back.
“That’s not fair!” Accalia protested, pushing through the crowd to stand by Rain's side, “Rain’s been working harder than anyone."
