I rather die of guilt

"Dan?"

I startle awake. My eyes darted around in shock.

"Where am I?" I look around in confusion.

My body was drenched, and I sat on a bed that doesn't look familiar at all.

I was confused until my eyes landed on David, who was sitting on the bed.

"You are in our house." He touched my shoulder, "what's wrong?"

I look around the place.

For a moment there, I thought I have been transported back to Smith, but it seems I had a bad dream.

"I had a nightmare," I clutched David's arm.

"It's alright," he lightly smoothed my hair, "you are safe now. You won't have any bad dreams anymore. I will chase the demons away for you."

The demon is back. And this time, it seemed he was worse than he was, before.

Smith is back with a vengeance.

I didn't say anything. I just placed my head on his shoulder and allowed him to console me.
