[Fifteen Minutes Earlier]
"Sir, your wife saw you killing." The camera operator came running to Nik, while he was looking at the staff, who were taking care of the dead body.
Hearing that, Niklaus didn't appear shocked, but Beau was. "What are you going to tell her? What would happen if she exposed us?"
"I didn't plan to hide it from her, in the first place." Nik replied and gave a small smile, which stunned Beau.
"Are you sure about it?"
Niklaus gave a nod and told him not to worry.
"How can I not? Nik, It would be a disaster if this news goes out! Why do you want to trust her blindly?"
Nik always knew that Beau hated Lili. However, he thought his friend would stop mocking her after marriage. But, didn't seem that case! As usual, Beau didn't leave the chance to throw dirt over her. "Because she is my wife!" he reminded.
"Wife?" Beau laughed out loud. "So, why don't you tell her on how you made her father hit rock bottom, in order to marry her?"
"I will, but not now!" Niklaus muttered with head down.
"Yes! In the same way, don't tell her about this." Beau stressed. His nostrils were flaring with angry and frustration. He couldn't understand why Nik was giving Lili more preference that his business.
Making her the CEO of the Bradford company was already burning him. He worked hard and smartly to take over the company in the brief time span. Now, that Niklaus wants to reveal about all their business to his useless and brainless wife made him aggressive and blast out.
"What do you expect me to tell her, if she asks? Lie? Never!" Nik too appeared pissed off, with Beau's possessiveness and weird behaviour.
"That's what you are already doing!" Beau yelled.
All the surrounding staff started murmuring and biting their ears to see the thick friends quarrel. They felt it was completely insane. Never did any of the workers found them fighting.
"I have been working for Mr. Cooper for five years, but never did I see them raising voice against each other." One of the stuff murmured while staring at the roaring faces.
"A Woman can break any friendship!" muttered another, who lent an ear to the Nik and Beau's fierce discussion.
Nik gave a plastered smile and left the place. He didn't want to give any more chance to the workers, to talk about them.
…..
"Aren't you going to ask me about the murder?"
Lili's black eyes went wide open at once. She sat and asked the most obvious question and one of the most tormenting questions - "Why did you kill?"
"Because he was selling drugs to school students." Nik replied straight forward with no hesitation. He sat on the black comfortable sofa with crossed legs.
"Drugs??" Lili's heart raced, realising that she landed in a much more dangerous place. "Aren't you a business person dealing with computers, electronics, software, motors, airlines and such stuff? Where did drugs come from?"
Niklaus sighed and gulped. Even though he was sure about telling her, he was afraid of how she would react upon telling. "Side business."
Lili frowned, tightened her jaws and narrowed her eyes to hear that. "Didn't you find something good as a side business?" She sounded irritated and frustrated. "God! Where have I landed? Wait! The body! What have you done? What if cops find you?" Suddenly, she seemed concerned.
"Cops!" Nik chuckled and laughed out loud. "You mean the scoundrels who didn't arrest him, even after knowing what he was doing?"
Lili's mind was cluttered with the information that Nik was telling her. Drugs! Cops! Murder! Guns! She tightened her grip on the bedsheet and took a deep breath. "Mr. Cooper, what is your side business, exactly?"
Nik's lips stretched, and pupils dilated to hear the question that he wanted to answer. "Mafia. I deal with guns, weapons, drugs, alcohol, clubs, gambling and many more."
Lili's stunned brain didn't allow her to listen to the entire statement. Her ears turned deaf and brain collapsed with the first word itself. "You aren't joking, right?" She got down off the bed and rushed towards him. However, before she could reach him, her legs lost balance and body lost strength. With a groan, she crushed on the floor.
"Are you okay?" Her one-day old husband ran and kneeled beside her. His eyes examined her trembling legs and gasping sobs and realized that it wasn't the right time to tell.
Lili raised her head and looked straight into his hazel eyes with her wet, round eyes filled with numerous fine red lines. "Do you even care?" She rubbed her temples and grinded her teeth with helplessness and anger.
'You are the only person I care about the most in the entire world.' He answered to himself. Nik's heart was shivering and broken into a thousand unattachable pieces to see his love shedding tears because of him. "What do you think of me? Do you think I am a stone hearted person? Or do you expect me to laugh at a person who fell down without fetching help?"
"If you do, why did you involve me with you and your illegal stuff?"
"Because Robert wants me to marry, and I found you apt and available at the right time." He lied confidently, as if already prepared for that moment and question.
'"Apt! Available! Why… Why do you always treat like an object?" She roared, frowned, got up and went to bed.
Nik couldn't help but scratch his head. 'What is she doing?' He was amused to see her leave that easily. He was expecting some scolding, cries and curses. "Are you done?"
She hummed while pulling over the black blanket. "It's not like I can do or change anything." Since the biggest mishap in her life- 'marriage', took place, Lili decided to start focusing on her and only her. She didn't want to tire herself thinking about what her husband was up to. "Just be careful not to get caught. I don't want to tire your HR team and media run over me."
