"Who are you? Which evil creature sent you?" Nik yelled. "Stand right there!" He pointed his index finger towards her while walking to the tap to get some water. Throughout the way, he didn't remove his graze from her as if she would bounce on him and kill.
"But I did nothing!" Lili murmured with eyes staring at the ground.
"Where is Liliya?" Alice woke up as soon as Nik sprinkled some water on her face. Her eyes ran around and glittered to find Lili. Her lips extended to the ears. She tried getting up, but soon fell with a groan and a cracking sound followed.
"Mom! You are hurt! I will carry you." Niklaus lifted her mom and walked towards Lili. He carefully put her on the wooden chair nearby and soon after that, glared at Lili with pinched brows. He was damn frustrated and perplexed about Liliya's identity, but his mother's expression and behavior were the one he expected.
Alice's arms had multiple scratches, her left elbow was red, and her back muscles ached. She was in a lot of pain, but her face conveyed differently. Her eyes were sparkling at Lili and the corners of her mouth lifted. She was smiling like a child who was given a new toy.
"Sorry for trying to read your mind. But may I know which clan you belong to?" Even though her lips uttered the 'sorry' word, the sadness was nowhere seen on her face.
'What? Can she read me? What is she talking about? Clan? Which generation is she living in?' Lili blinked and glanced at Nik, who was already looking at her while nibbling his bottom lip. The frown on his face and confusion in his face were evident that seeking his help would be of no use. "Mmm… My maiden's name is Meyers." She finally answered, taking the clan Nik's mother mentioned to be her surname.
Alice's expression darkened. "No Madam! I am asking about CLAN."
"Madam? Me!" Lili pointed to herself. At this point in time, her doubt that Alice was crazy was confirmed.
"Maa! Why are you calling her madam?" Nik intervened in the absurd discussion, to find out about the reason for his mother's abnormal behavior.
"She is a witch, Nik! And she belongs to a clan, higher than us. A spell is protecting her to hide her identity. And it is that spell that threw me away as I tried to know her."
Lili's forehead ceased to hear the unbelievable story. 'Did she hit her brain when she fell?'
"WHAT?" Nik exclaimed and stared at Lili.
That was not the reaction Lili expected from Niklaus. She gazed at him too with utter bewilderment. His eyes showed a hint of shock and the apple in his throat bulged out.
Lili raked her hair and let out a harsh breath. "Look, I am a normal human being and Mr. Cooper, why are believing that story?"
"Fine! You want me to trust you? Ok! How do you explain my mother's situation? I saw with my own eyes. You were staring at her and in the next second, she flew like a kite. Yet, you were still standing with the same blank face as if nothing happened."
"I wasn't doing any magic. I just zoned out for a bit, maybe because I was tired after traveling."
"Dear, you didn't zone out. The spell took over your body and protected you."
'Ah!! This woman!' Liliya's jaw tightened, and fist clenched by hearing the illogical staff her mother-in-law was talking. "Why are you both playing with me? Am I already tired and restless? Please don't do this."
"You? Can't you see my mother is hurt?" Nik growled, but before he could speak another word, his jaw fell.
Alice moved her hand in the air and took out a white cloth, revealing a water-like creature beside Liliya. "This is the one protecting you and the one which made me fly like cotton." Alice said with a broad smile and shining eyes.
Lili bounced on her toes, ran, and hid behind Niklaus. Her fingers tightened over his shirt and her chest rose and fell with rapid breaths.
But Nik shrugged and muttered, "We should be frightened. What are you afraid of? It's your protector!"
"I don't know who that is?" Lili said with her clattering teeth as she rubbed her arms. Looking at the 6 feet 2 inches creature with continuous water running all over its body, made her body itch and tingling sensation ran all over the body. It had no eyes, nose or mouth, but long hair with gushing water.
"Who is the one that assigned you to protect Liliya?" Alice politely asked, and Lili nodded as if wanting to know the answer too.
But the creature didn't reply even a single word. The three of them waited for a few more seconds to see at least a moment, but none!
"I am a witch. You can tell me. Why doesn't Liliya know she is a witch?" Alice tried again. But there was zero reaction from the water person.
"Are you deaf?" Nik roared and waved his hand in front of it. "Ah!!!" Nik screamed. "Are you blind, too? Maa, why don't you do something?" He looked at his mother, who was already gazing at the water person. His patience hit rock bottom and he no longer wanted to wait patiently.
"I shouldn't and I can't! It isn't deaf or blind. It doesn't respond to us." she said calmly, as if seeing such a creature was a normal thing. "Just because you are rich and powerful doesn't mean the spiritual creatures respect and obey you." Uttering that, she threw a fierce glare at her son.
"Witches majorly created Guardian Knights to protect their children. It only listens and takes up commands from its master and you are … surely not its master."
Niklaus' eyes widened and turned back. "So, you must be its master."
"I am not a witch!" Liliya whispered with a frown. However, she peeped a little and stared at the whitish-blue thing for any movement.
As she was watching it, holding her breath, its eyes opened, causing Lili's poor heart to halt. The Guardian knight turned its ocean eyes towards its master and stared straight into Lili's eyes. With the look, Lili started hyperventilating.
The Guardian turned alert and took a step forward. Lili's restless breathing further increased, her pupils enlarged and even in that condition took a step backward.
"Stop! You will kill her!" Alice warned. "Niklaus, take her inside. The house is surrounded with a calming spell."
