The confrontation

"You're right. Something is definitely on your mind. Why have you been snapping at me all day? As far as I know, I haven’t done anything bad."

"All day? You've been home for all of an hour or so."

"Just kidding. What do we need to talk about?”

"Well… I." Chloe began, feeling tongue-tied.

Ethan watched her patiently, only taking his eyes off her to mute the television.

"I need to know what we are and if we are in a relationship or not," Chloe said in a rush while avoiding his gaze.

"Oh.”

"Well? Is that all you are going to say? Oh?"

"I don't know what to say. I thought we've gone over this numerous times."

"So, in essence, we are just fuck buddies?" Chloe asked.

"I wish you wouldn't call it that."

"That's what it is though. It's because of her, isn't it? Your fiancée. You are still in love with her, aren't you?"

Ethan gave a short bark of laughter. "No, I'm not still in love with her."

"I don't believe you though."
