A Scary Old Man!

A Man in his seemingly mid 20s could be seen sweating bullets over a phone call.

"And your name?"

>M-Micheal Sir!

"Alright, tell your superior that we've got the message, and also to send reinforcements!"

>Yes Sir!

"And stop yelling!"

>Y-Yes Si-

The man hung up while massaging his temples, his face could be seen showing obvious displeasure.

"Donma... Someone wants to see you."

"Who?"

"Someone that's been to the other side..."

"Well? What are you waiting for, let him him!" He urged them as he walked towards someone sitting at a computer and began discussing something.

The doors to the room opened to reveal a teenage boy with blonde hair and sky blue eyes. He seemed to be looking around for someone.

"Who's the boss here?" He asked loudly, causing everyone to stare at him annoyed

"Stop screaming kid, I'm the boss here. Your name?" Donma stared the kid up and down.

"Joshua, but you can call me John, Josh, or Joshy."

"Alright then Josh, lets get down to business..."

The air in the room turned cold as the both of them looked at each other's eyes. But something interrupted this face-off, it was a man with black hair, black eyes, and red glasses. He was changing the temperature in the room, loudly.

Everyone stared at him, wondering how he had such guts to do that in the middle of their battle of nerves.

"What? It's cold so I'm just highering the temperature. Oh yeah does anyone know where the coffee machine is again? Someone just keeps moving it!"

...

Donma looked at the man blankly, before smiling brightly. This caused the air in the room to return to normal.

"Since our vice said it's too cold, why don't we do this quickly and peacefully?" Donma turned his head back to look at the youth.

"Alright, fine with me." Josh shrugged as he grabbed the nearest chair.

After this line, everyone turned away and went back to what they were doing. Some of them even looked a bit disappointed that it ended so soon.

"Well then, let's talk. I'm sure you already know why you're here."

Josh nodded

"Then let's get started."

Donma waved his hand towards one of his subordinates, seeing this they left the room. After a couple minutes they came back holding a small chest with a lock. They placed it on the table before quietly going back to work.

He smiled at the youth before pulling out a key from, somewhere? He then unlocked the chest revealing...

It was an orb the size of his palm, it was so clear that you could see what was behind it perfectly, the only thing revealing it was a ball, was the reflection of light.

"..." Josh looked at the orb.

"I'm sure you know what this is, right?" Donma smirked.

Josh didn't move a muscle as he continued to stare at the orb with wide eyes.

Donma moved his lips:

S.P.I.R.I.T E.Y.E

He smiled at Josh.

Josh was woken from his daze, as his gaze turned serious, he looked at the man.

"Why are you using such a thing for this?" He pointed at the orb

Donma leaned back as he sighed, still holding the ball.

"We've tried using our technology, and we even asked other power users, but for some reason they couldn't get a signal."

"And so you use this? I sure know what it is, but what about you? Your treating this like a toy." Josh narrowed his eyes

"And why ask me to use this? I'm pretty sure I'll be able to detect things perfectly fine."

Donma looked at the big screen to his side, showing an error in the radar.

"We asked a magician with pretty decent abilities to figure out whats up. Turns out there was a reason why the other's couldn't detect anything."

"And?" Josh raised his eyebrow

Domna placed the orb in front of him as he clamped his hands together on the table.

"I'm sure you know what's happened in Florida..."

"Yes, I was told before coming here. A gate opened..."

Donma nodded heavily

"Usually gates are connected to small dungeons containing a certain amount of monsters, these dungeons also contain a certain amount of mana, spiritual power, holy power... and the list goes on."

His eyes turned dark "But for some reason this gate just keeps spitting out power, the monsters have stopped pouring out but the gate is still being fully powered."

"Thus interfering with our radars, and any technology in the area. "

"Yeah but this doesn't explain why those power users couldn't do anything. And shouldn't you guys have a specific radar for this?" Josh looked at him confused

"We still haven't installed the big radar yet, and when we tried with the smaller ones it still showed no results. As for the reason why the power users couldn't do anything..."

"I don't know."

Haa

Josh sighed

If this was true, then that means that there might be an actual intelligent monster interfering with things.

Gates were connected to other worlds, most of the time they were connected to dungeons, which were pockets of space connected to said worlds, allowing monsters to inhabit them.

Gates would usually appear when there was an area that was weak enough for them to make a crack in space. After this, the gate would stay there. Gates can also open, usually they only allowed beings that were originally not there, to come in and out of the gate. After a while though, these gates would swell with power, because monsters unconsciously let mana (or the power source that is original to their world) out constantly. An area can only hold so much power, and so because of this, the dungeon would break open, allowing the beings on the other side of the gate to come out.

Usually the gates would lose power as time goes on, causing them to get smaller and smaller. If it is not being fueled with power, it would eventually disappear.

But what is happening in Florida is something that has not been recorded.

Because the I.O.A (International Otherworldly Association) could only find a few of these gates, they only knew so much from experiments. There weren't enough gates to conduct actual specific tests. And on top of that, the gates wouldn't last that long anyways.

Josh held his head.

"Haha! I guess you're also feeling how I feel!" Donma laughed seeing his expression.

"And so you think that the Spirit Eye would allow me to detect anything?"

"Of course, and I have high expectations of you! Else I wouldn't have though of allowing you to use it."

"Since I've told you all I've could, now you must help us."

"I'm not asking this as a favor, I'm ordering you to." Donma smiled coldly

"So?"

Josh looked at him, although he really didn't want to do it... He really wanted to try using a Spirit Eye...

"..."

Donma lifted his eyebrow, still smiling.

"Ok, fine." Josh caved in

"I came all the way here, so I might as well help out."

"Haha! That's what I like to hear! Young people these days are too scared to do anything!"

"But you don't even look that old." Josh looked at him, Donma looked like he was in his 20's.

"I'm turning 41 next year."

"What the hell?" Josh looked at him surprised

"So treat me with some respect alright?" Donma smirked

This old man is probably gonna bother him for a while...

R.I.P let us pray for Joshua, who will soon be worked to death.
