Alex felt a ringing in her ears, and her head felt like it would split open.
A muffled voice seemed to be trying to get her attention. But the sounds only made her headache worse.
"Ugh.. Shut up for a damn moment."
Not only could she not hear, but her vision was blurry. So she couldn't even see the person that was talking.
After a while her senses slowly returned, and while she still couldn't see or hear perfectly, it was enough for her to calm down a bit.
Though she still had a splitting headache, the pain was more bearable now.
She rubbed her eyes a bit looking at her surroundings in shock.
Plants surrounded her, and fireflies lit up her surroundings slightly. It seemed she was underground, as above her head were rocks and crystals.
The place looked like something you would see in paintings, or that you would read in books.
"Where, am I…"
She let go of her head, and sat up while looking around slowly. The grass felt nice on her hands, and had a pleasant smell.
"Are you fine now?" A deep voice asked her.
She quickly scurried away from the voice in fear.
"Hey wait, no don't run!" The deep voice yelled in a panic.
'Who the fuck is going to listen when a stranger says 'don't run', do you think I'm stupid?!!'
She tried to stand up, but her legs had fallen asleep. So she tumbled pathetically to the ground, faced down.
"Don't die yet! We still gotta talk!" The voice yelled.
A couple seconds passed before Alex flipped up, grass stuck to her face.
At this point, she wasn't even surprised at what she saw.
The thing seemed to have a human shape, but it was of golden color. It had no other features, but its voice was deep and sounded like a man's.
Alex sighed, it seems like whatever this was didn't want to hurt her.
"Oh, you got some grass on your face. Shouldn't have ran huh?" It scoffed.
"Where am I?" Alex asked, still laying on the floor.
"Uhm, don't you know who I am?" It pointed at its self, speaking in a surprised tone.
"???"
Was she supposed to remember what that thing was? Maybe she met it in the past somewhere?? Uhh…
"Yeah… No, sorry can't remember."
The thing seemed to blow air out from their… mouth? It seemed like she had really met it somewhere, but she can't remember a time in her life where she would have met such a thing.
It put one hand on it's head and shook its other hand, "No, no, it's fine. It's actually more understandable if you couldn't remember."
Alex was finally able to move her legs, even if only a little. She sat up and looked at the being.
'If I did meet them in the past, there's no way I wouldn't have remembered.'
But she didn't know them, so now was the best time for introductions.
"Who are you?" She tilted her head to the side.
It happily replied, "Oh! I'm #@4!!fw."
What?
"Uhm, can you say that again?" She scooted a bit closer and cupped her ears, trying to listen.
"4$(^%!!"
Once again, it's name was censored. Every time it said its name she felt like her head was being hit by a hammer.
"Ugh, stop saying your name. Gimme a nickname or something." She held her head with a pained look, and waved her hand to signal that it should stop.
"Ah! Sorry, it seems like you need to get stronger to hear my actual name…" It scratched its chin shyly as it's voice trailed off.
"Umm, Chris! Yeah, that works!"
"So why am here?" She repeated her question from earlier.
"Because I have some things I need to tell you! I met you before with great difficulty, but you didn't even remember! But now we can talk all we need to!" Chris said happily.
Hearing this, Alex remembered something.
"Hey did you meet someone else too? Looks like the smaller version of me, but with short hair?"
"Oh, you don't need to worry about him. I'm talking to him separately." He said reassuringly.
Alex sighed in relief, but froze for a moment.
'Aren't I too trusting?'
She was taking this as it came, and didn't even bother think of the idea that Chris was lying.
'Its not like I can do anything anyways…'
Chris seemed to be very strong, being able to bring her to an entirely new place with ease.
"So… What did you want to talk about?" Alex asked with curiosity.
Chris went quite for a moment, contemplating on what to say.
But, Chris disliked beating around the bush, so he'd just say it to her outright.
"You and your brother are special because-" Chris clapped his hands together, "You both are inheritors of the #3%^ Legacy!"
Alex stared at Chris silently, once again his words had been censored.
But she knew there was no helping it, so she might as well remember what she could.
"And what is a Legacy?"
If Chris had any sort of facial features, she'd probably see him grinning from ear-to-ear.
"There are very few of them, but I guess you could say that having a Legacy means that you'll gain unimaginable power!"
Unimaginable power? She had doubts…
"But why me and my brother? We're just normal people." She said doubtfully.
Chris enthusiastically extended their arms towards her.
"You're an @#^g* of the #^%)$! Both you and your brother! But sadly… You two are the only ones." His tone became sad.
"Why is that bad? Isn't inheriting a Legacy good?"
Chris went silent for a moment before continuing.
"You both are… very young…"
"Ah! But I don't doubt your strength and potential, or anything like that!" It waved its hands in a panic, quickly preventing any mistunderstanding.
Chris sighed, "Legacies can be inherited at any age, whether you've just been born or are already a century old."
"But with great power comes responsibility, not just on how you use that power! But the wishes of the original Legacy holder."
"Legacies can become shackles, depending on the wishes of the original."
"Some wish for simple things, like living a good life, or taking care of someone they originally knew."
"Others might want you to kill, and shed blood."
"Legacies can also change the personality of the inheritor. You won't feel the difference at first, but once you realize it, it's already too late…"
Chris went silent, seemingly waiting for her to respond.
'It's quite emotional for something that doesn't have a face.' Alex looked at Chris, who had their head down.
"Why are you telling me this? You said I'm an inheritor, and that I'd gain unimaginable power. You spoke like you wanted me to inherit the Legacy."
Alex put her elbow on her knee, silently placing her head on her hand. She looked at Chris, the human shaped, golden blob.
"This Legacy… It's nothing like the examples I gave you."
"Then what's the wish of the Legacy?"
"…"
He didn't speak.
At this point Alex was becoming a bit restless. 'Before it said it didn't like beating around the bush, but now it won't even tell me the most important fact.'
Finally, Chris did speak.
"Saving…"
"And?" Alex spoke to Chris like one would when speaking to a child.
"Saving the-"
