"Saving the @#3%^…"
"Fuck!" Alex said thoughtlessly.
Chris looked up at her in surprise. Causing Alex to quickly cover her mouth. She had said her thoughts out loud.
"Sorry, it's just that what you said was censored." She pulled her hands away from her mouth shamefully.
"No, it's fine. Anyways, its for the best that you didn't understand." Chris shook their head.
Alex helped herself up, slightly stumbling forward. Finally standing straight, she looked at Chris confidently.
"I want it."
"What?" Chris said loudly.
"I want to be stronger, so I don't mind the responsibility that comes with the Legacy!" Alex's voice became more confident.
"This isn't a normal wish you know! You'd be putting yourself in danger!" Chris took a step towards her shakily.
'Is this really the strong being that teleported me here? That spoke with confidence in every word?'
Chris' demeanor looked Flaky, and they were shaking so much it seemed like they would fall.
"Aren't I the one inheriting?!" She looked around and yelled, "Hey! I want the Legacy!"
"I want to become stronger!"
"So I need the Legacy!"
There wasn't even an echo in the plant filled cave. But moments later, a voice responded. It was Chris.
"Why do you want it? Why do you want to become stronger?" Chris said with their head down.
Alex clenched her chest, "I want to protect my brother, and my father. I want to help my friends!"
"I don't want to be just a spectator!"
"And I'm sick! I'm sick of being weak! Being unable to do anything!" She yelled.
Alex panted before standing straight.
"Please.." Her voice went quiet.
It was silent.
And strangely enough, wind was blowing. Causing the trees to rustle. Wind was blowing… in a cave.
"I hope you don't regret it." Chris' voice resounded in her head.
She held her head out of surprise, but still answered.
She smiled, "I won't."
And then everything turned gold.
***
Caron had also experienced the same, and he too accepted the Legacy. Afterwards, a golden light enveloped him. He felt like he was floating, not knowing up from down. Or left from right. All he could see was a light golden color, of which felt strangely familiar.
He liked the color yellow and gold, because his sister did. And it's not like that was the only reason, he also like the color because it reminded him of a book he read.
It was a long time ago when he read it, so his memory was blurry. But he remembers enjoying the book, it made him feel comfortable.
He never saw that book again. When he searched on the internet, it didn't show up. Caron even went to every library and Barns n' Nobles in the area.
But he never found the book.
What was its name again? Actually, what was the plot even about? Caron held his chin in thought.
"I think it was fantasy?"
He sighed.
It was too bad that he lost it, he remembers really liking that book.
'Anyways, how am I gonna get back to the others?' Caron looked around, trying to find something other than the color gold.
As if hearing his thoughts, Caron felt himself being pulled. He slowly gained speed, and eventually couldn't see anything other than darkness.
Oh, and there was someone talking too.
"Kid! Wake up!"
He was shaken violently, his neck really hurt.
"Stop shaking him! He's just asleep!"
Can't they not scream? Wait, don't just drop him!
"On Zaroth! I've never seen someone as brutish as you!"
Oh? Zaroth? He's sure he heard that somewhere.
"Do you want this brute to punch your nose in?!"
Was she talking to him??
Wait uh, this situation… could it be that he's back outside?
Caron tried to open his eyes, but it felt as if someone glued them shut. His body felt heavy, and his throat felt parched. He felt himself fade in an out of consciousness, barely managing to stay awake. Through much effort, he lifted his arm and grabbed the thing nearest to him. A hand.
"Huh? Hey, Caron are you awake!"
"Are you sick or anything? Do you need a drink?"
Two voices filled with concern, they sounded happy yet worried. But now that his senses were nearly all gone, he was more aware of his feeling.
'It's nice.'
It was nice being worried for, even though he tried his best not to bother the people around him. His sister Alex was always worried for him, and his parents too.
'Ah, right now's not the time to be thinking about those kinds of things.'
His voice cracked as he spoke, "W-ate-r-"
"Water? Yeah, yeah you can have all the water." Caron was sat up, and they tilted his head up slightly before placing something on his mouth.
Maybe it was because he was thirsty, or it could also have been because his senses were more sensitive.
That water, was the tastiest water he had ever drunk in his life. He quickly gulped it down, relishing in refreshing feeling.
After a bit, the flask was emptied.
Caron was slightly disappointed, but right now wasn't really the best situation to ask for more.
With his throat now refreshed, Caron spoke. "Alex, where is she?"
"Uhm, she hasn't come out yet." Josh said.
"But! She's probably fine, I mean, you were able to leave. So I'm sure that she'll be able to leave too!" Ana tried to reassure him like she always did.
Caron thought that she would have come along with him when he left. But she didn't. So where was she?
***
Unlike Alex's thoughts, she did not leave. The scenery had changed but she was sure that this wasn't Earth.
Well it'd be more accurate to say she was in space. She wasn't dying, and she had not yet become an ice cube.
"Apologies if it's uncomfortable." A voice spoke to her.
There were a lot of weird people she had met, and weird things. A lot of mysterious voices spoke to her too. Well, maybe not a lot of voices, but there were still a few.
And along with these weird people and voices, were the situations she was put in. If she were to count them, they'd be as much as the fingers she had on her hand. Which is not a lot, but it's weird it happened.
Oh wait, yeah.
"Though I may not be able to speak to you for long, I hope you listen to my words."
Alex was in space, floating, and alive.
"Thank you for accepting me-"
There was a mysterious voice talking to her, again.
"Inheritor."
Also, she seems to be a Legacy owner, I guess she was a really important person now.
