Alex's thoughts aside, what's important now is whatever the voice is going to say.
"Hmm, maybe if I look human it would be easier to have a conversation." It seems like they noticed she wasn't paying attention, that's embarrassing.
"Oh, uhm, yeah." Alex didn't know what to say in such a situation, so she just agreed with whatever.
Suddenly, as if the stars were coming together, a person stood in front of her.
Unlike Chris, who simply had a human shape, the person in front of her looked completely human.
Except the fact that the person standing in front of her..
Was Alex!
An exact copy of Alex herself stood in front of her, with the only difference being the hair and eye color. Golden hair that seemed to shimmer even in the void of space, and eyes that looked so golden it was as if she was staring at the sun.
'But damn do I look good with golden hair, maybe I should dye it when everything settles down?'
Those thoughts left and quickly as they came. And the other Alex spoke.
"You may call me Mother."
"…" Alex nodded.
Calling someone Mother, after her own mom died was a bit…
Seeing her expression to the name, she smiled sadly. "If it makes you uncomfortable, you may call me something else."
"No, I'm fine with your name M-Moth-er." Alex stuttered trying to say her name.
Mother nodded and continued.
"Since you are still too weak, I am limited in what I can tell you."
"And while it might not be a lot, you must remember every word I say!"
Alex nodded.
"This Legacy will require you to leave your own world. How you will acomplish it is up to you. But to leave, you must become strong enough to protect yourself and your brother. I suggest you espescially strengthen your soul."
Mother walked to Alex as she said this, and tapped her chest.
"Since I am a part of the Legacy, I can't disclose information about it freely. You have to reach certian levels of strength and understanding, that way I can safely tell you about the Legacy."
"But then how do I know what I'm supose to do-"
Mother gently placed her finger on Alex's mouth.
"Shh, I don't have much time, so just listen for now."
Mother continued, "For your safety, we can not speak for long. But every now and then you will be brought here, then you may ask me more about the Legacy. The stronger you are, the longer we can talk."
"For now, don't think too much about the wishes of this Legacy, and the original. Your only goal is to become stronger."
"And while I may be unable to disclose information about the Legacy, outside forces can inform you about certian things."
"This is all I can tell you, now you may ask me any question. I'll try to answer it to the best of my abilities."
Mother held Alex's cheek, and smiled at her.
Alex didn't have many questions, espescially since she didn't know much in the first place.
"Is Chris also a part of the Legacy? Will I see him again?" She asked.
Mother's smile widened, "That child is also a part of the Legacy, and whether you will meet agian or not is up to you."
Alex nodded, showing she understood. But now that it was confirmed, the situation before was even more confusing.
'If Chris is a part of the Legacy? Why was he trying to convince me to not accept it?'
Alex was about to ask agian, when Mother replied.
"That child has their reasons, I also think that this Legacy is too much for someone as young as you."
'Woah! Did she just read my mind? Could she do that from the beginning??'
"Haha, since you accepted the Legacy, we are now bound together." Mother chuckled at Alex's reaction.
Alex coughed akwardly, "Could Chris also read my mind?"
She smiled, "When you spoke to him, you had not yet accepted the Legacy. So he only heard what you spoke, not what you thought. Now though, he can also read your thoughts."
"Even now?" She looked at Mother nervously.
"Yes, even now." She nodded with a smile.
It was a bit disturbing knowing that someone could read your thoughts, but Alex tried to move past the topic.
"You spoke about my brother, did he also accept the Legacy?"
Mother nodded.
"What questions did he ask?"
Her brother was really smart, so he might have asked something that would be important.
"Sadly, we were unable to meet. Currently I can only speak to one of you right now." Mother sighed and shook her head.
"Why'd you speak to me then?" Alex pointed at herself in confusion.
"You were the first one to awaken the Legacy, so I felt like you should be the first to ask question."
She didn't understand what Mother meant. Chris also said that they met before, but she can't remember.
"So will my brother also be called here?" She didn't find the need to confuse herself further, and just asked what she thought was most important.
"Yes, next time I will make it so both of you can be here at the same time." Mother said.
"Oh, sweet!" Alex smiled.
"Anyways, it seems like our time is up. Remember what I told you before! Good luck child!"
Mother smiled once more, even brighter than before.
And then everything went dark.
***
"You were gone for like 5 minutes."
Caron was a bit shocked, "It felt like hours!"
Jiji, who was off to the side, walked towards the three.
She stared intently at Caron, before quickly turning her head to the gate. As if waiting for something to happen, she just stood there without moving, making Caron uncomfortable. But he also looked at the gate, wondering what Jiji was seeing.
And moments later, the gate made a zapping sound. A golden light shone from it, and a figure seemed to stumble out of it.
Followed with a voice, "Oh god, am I back?"
It was Alex, the one person they were all waiting for.
Caron cried out her name as he stood up shakily and ran to her.
"Alex!"
He fell onto her, but she caught him, stumbling back a bit.
"You were already outside?" She asked.
"Yeah, I was waiting for you."
Another person also spoke.
"Yeah, we were also waiting for you."
Josh smiled as he walked to Alex and patted her on the shoulder.
Ana followed behind, "What happened there?"
Alex paused for a moment, 'Do I tell them?'
If she did, maybe she would get answers. But she was scared for some reason.
'If I tell them, would they even know? What if I was brought to be experimented on?'
Chris said that there weren't a lot of Legacies, and that she would gain unimaginable power from them.
It also seems like Caron didn't say anything, as Josh and Ana looked very worried and confused.
And so, with the most believable expression she could muster up, "I don't know, all of a sudden everything went dark. And then moments later I was here."
"Is that normal?" Alex tilted her head.
"Hell no! Usually it's just like walking through a doorway."
Alex scratched her head awkwardly, as she looked at them.
Josh stared at her silently before speaking, "I doesn't matter anyways, you both are fine now."
"The gate's closing, let's head out of here."
'Thankfully they didn't think too much of it.'
She looked at Jiji.
'But it seems like she knows something isn't right.'
Jiji was staring intensely at both Caron and Alex.
'Maybe if I don't bring it up, she won't ask…'
