A Happy Dwarf!

Alex woke up on an unfamiliar bed, she was confused for a moment on where she was. But her panic slowly subsided as she remembered what happened yesterday.

She wanted to just jump out of bed and look around in the new place she was in. She didn't though.

Alex laid silently, looking at the ceiling. Thinking.

'What am I going to do now?'

Alex disliked thinking. Her mind has always been filled with different things, and most of them weren't nice things to think about. I guess you could say that she has very intrusive thoughts. These thoughts would range from thinking about her family, what she was going to do tomorrow, when will the weekend come? And then her thoughts would darken, what would happen if she died? Her friends might already be dead. What if this was all a dream, and in reality she was already seconds before death, and her mind was simply replaying what could have happened?

She had no control over her thoughts, so in times like this when everything was still and quiet. Her thoughts would become louder, and she would start to believe what she was thinking. And so, Alex always tried to stimulate herself in some way. Whether it be listening to music, reading books, playing games, or being with friends. She would always be trying to drown out what was going on inside her head.

Even now she hates the things she's thinking about. It's kind of like giving controllers to a group of people, and then making them all control one character. Everyone always has different goals, and it's very difficult to choose what to do next.

But I guess that's a more extreme case, right now Alex was simply being bombarded with different opinions, even those she didn't agree with.

Alex has always tried to block out these thoughts, but after everything that she experienced, she was beginning to hate these intrusive thoughts a little bit less.

*knock* *knock* *knock*

Someone was outside the door, Alex really didn't want to get up, but it would be rude to just ignore such obvious knocking.

She stood up from the bed, taking a glance at Caron who was still asleep. He seemed to be tired, not just because he was up all night, but also because of everything that had happened.

Alex opened the door expecting it to be Mia, but what greeted her was a short pink-haired girl instead.

It was Jiji!

"We need to talk, you and your brother."

"Oh, uh." Alex was a bit flustered at the sudden request.

"It's important." Jiji said with a serious look on her face.

Alex nodded with hesitation, "A-Alright, I'll wake him up, just wait for a moment."

She woke Caron up, shaking him with a bit of force.

"Mmm, stop, I'm tired." He held Alex's hand to prevent her from shaking him any longer, his eyes were still closed though.

"Jiji needs to speak with us, it's important, wake up!" Alex pulled on her brother's hand, dragging him off the bed.

Before he could fall, he put his foot out and sat up on the edge of the bed.

Rubbing his eyes, he spoke. "What?"

"Come follow me." Alex tugged at him, and he stood up.

Caron followed Alex sluggishly, still half asleep.

Seeing him awake, Jiji turned around signaling for them to follow her.

And so they followed her…

[(Flashback End)]

Alex and Caron were silent, neither of them knew what to say or do.

Their silence only made Jiji more eager to know who they were, "Speak up, being silent won't do you any good."

Alex and Caron flinched at hearing her words. Alex had thought that Jiji was friendly, and that she wouldn't do anything bad, but now she was regretting trusting her so easily.

Jiji sighed, "I'm not going to do anything, so don't worry about that."

She leaned further back into the sofa she was sitting on, "I'm not sure how much you know, but I'm sure that my knowledge of Legacies would be useful to you." Jiji stretched out her hand while making the offer.

Caron took a deep breath, the offer didn't sound too bad. He glanced at Alex for a moment before opening his mouth.

"You… How do you know that we have a Legacy?"

Jiji smiled, "I felt something in the gate, it was only for a second but it felt like a Legacy, a strong one at that!"

"What do you mean by asking us who we are?" Caron asked another question.

Jiji put her feet down and leaned forward, "There's no way that the owner of such a strong Legacy would be normal."

'But we are normal people!!'

Caron tried to dig out any memories of his childhood that were unusual, but there was nothing! He and his sister had lived a completely normal life up til now!

He shook his head. "Me and Alex are normal people, this was all probably a coincidence."

"No way!" Jiji immediately refuted, "Legacies don't just fall from the sky whenever! And there's no way that you just stumbled upon it because I was in that gate long before you ever came!"

Caron didn't know what to say. He clenched his teeth.

Jiji scoffed at their reluctance to tell her.

'I guess I can applaud them for not being stupid and just trusting me completely. But I'm not going to kill them or anything like that. It's a bit frustrating trying to talk to them like this…' Jiji puffed her cheeks out in annoyance.

Suddenly, Alex spoke. "Do you really know about Legacies?"

Jiji nodded, satisfied that progress was being made.

Alex seemed very nervous when she ask that question. Jiji noticed this, and tried to reassure her.

"If you're thinking that I might try to steal the Legacy or something, you shouldn't worry. Stronger Legacies choose their inheritors, so even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to steal it anyways."

Alex and Caron sighed after hearing this, it seemed that was what they were most concerned about.

"Will you talk to me now?" Jiji asked in a softer tone.

The siblings looked at each other for a moment before turning to the dwarf and nodding.

Jiji clapped happily at her accomplishment, "Great! Let's get started!"
