Chapter 55

Our daughter had a name now.

Oriana.

It means, “new beginning,” or “dawn.” So, I’m a little sentimental. We wanted to honor Rowan’s mom, so her middle name is Eva. Oriana Eva Romano. Flows right off the tongue, doesn’t it?

Oriana was a good baby. Barely cried. Slept all the time. I just got to marvel at her as she cooed and made those cute little movements with her mouth when she slept.

The whole vampires don’t sleep thing was weird. Rowan and I would literally just stay up all night and watch our daughter sleep. I was thankful that I didn’t need sleep. I heard that was the hardest part of having a new baby. But we were just in our own little blissful bubble. I loved it. Every moment.

Rowan and I were laying on either side of the bed in the nursery, Oriana sleeping between us. She was swaddled and bundled tight, comfortably cooing. That girl loved a good swaddle.
