As the Alpha of Midnight Moon, my first priority is protecting my pack, not finding my mate. So when we are threatened by Dark Eclipse pack, my goal is to keep the threat away. I don't care about the upcoming Moon Goddess Ball, and I certainly don't care that I need a new Beta. Not going on the mission is painfully difficult, but I decide not to go because I want to give Zariah this opportunity, especially after Oscar opens his big mouth. I decide to stay in my office and get some work done. There’s plenty to do here, even if it seems like I have spent most of the time I’ve been Alpha working.


About an hour and a half after they leave, my phone rings. I grumble. I hate speaking on the phone, but I most especially hate speaking on the office phone. It’s usually another Alpha, and they almost never want to talk about anything good.


Yet, I have to pick up the phone anyway. “Alpha Micah,” I say while I am still looking at a report of how much we are spending on the schools each month. It’s a lot.


“Hi, Alpha Micah. Good morning. This is Alpha Wilson from Bright Star pack.”
