Chapter 104

Maddie looked up from her task at the worktable in the back of the flower shop when Harriet Nunez strolled in from the front section of the store. She raised her brows in interest at the middle-aged woman's grin of delight.

"Great news."

"Oh, yeah?" Maddie smiled, gaze retrained on the funeral display she was preparing for Fran, the former librarian's, funeral. Like with Betty White, Maddie had never expected Fran to ever pass away. She'd been a timeless fixture in town for as long as Maddie could remember. Alas, the elder lady went last night, peacefully in her sleep.

"Remember that arrangement you did for Gary last week?"

"Sure. The one that was supposed to say, sorry I forgot our anniversary, but I hope this makes up for it?"

"That's the one." Harriet eased onto a stool on the other side of the table and crossed her arms.
