Chapter 45

"How on Earth did you find this?" Sammy asked.

The crew huddled in a circle behind the bar in the tavern, staring down at what looked like a trapdoor. Seemed it was their night for discoveries.

Kerry was still flying from what had happened at the well. There was nothing, nothing more satisfying than knowing she'd helped a spirit gain closure and peace. Mary Mackaby was definitely one of those spirits at unrest, and one who deserved justice. Now she had it.

"The metal detector kept hitting on an area of the floor." Terrance shrugged. "We thought it was a nail or something."

Kerry refocused on the latest development. It was definitely odd. Goosebumps rose over her arms. She rubbed the chill away, unsure how to feel.

"On closer inspection, we realized the bar wasn't secured to the floor." Amir grinned. "Heavy son of a bitch, but we slid it over just enough to discover that." He pointed to the trapdoor, no more than three feet by three feet wide.
