[System: You are the first player to clear this rift. EXP obtained increased by 100%. Obtained 1400 EXP!]
[System: You leveled up!]
A series of notifications pop up in Caleb's head. His level bar also rose to one and he became level 6 with 700 EXP reminders.
He completed his second goal in this location, which was to obtain the additional EXP for being the first person to clear this rift.
Every Rift has this rule. The first player until the third one would receive a decent amount of bonus experience.
He check his stats and found that 1 Bonus Attribute was added to his Strength. Because of this, he first allocated his 4 points to the Strength attribute and the remaining point to Dexterity.
[System: Strength reached 15. The hidden skill 'Heavy Blade' has been unlocked!]
A notification popped up telling him that a passive skill has been unlocked and added to his tab. He didn't check it, however, as he already know what it is about.
It was a passive skill that gives his strike a 20% chance of knockback effect to the receiver. It was a great passive skill but when an enemy has more strength than him, the percent chance would reduce respectively.
Caleb then shifted his gaze to the thing in his front, it was floating to the place where Zaine's body disappeared. It has a spherical shape like an eye but with no pupil in it. A black essence was constantly swirling around it omitting an ominous aura, although small, Caleb can still feel it.
Reaching out, he grasps the spherical thing but it let go of his hands, instead, it quickly moves around him and directly went to his right eye.
"!!!"
Caleb not ready for this sensation groaned in pain when the ball forcefully entered, bringing intense sharp pains not only in his right but also in both of his eyes.
"Haaa... I didn't know this is what happens when you obtained it," he muttered tiredly after the pain subsided while still catching his breath.
[System: You obtained the 'Curse Ball', one of the 20 Curse artifacts in this world.]
The thing that had just entered his eye was a Curse artifact. These things were so rare and they can be only found in special places such as this Rift.
Artifacts were not in the category of items and equipment so they were not rated based on rank. There are more artifacts series in the world not only 'Curse'. One can say that the value of these things was dependent on who will wield them.
Caleb also knows how much value this artifact has to him. It can help him in so many ways while doing his plans.
The 'Curse Ball' increases his Perception attribute by 30%. Based on his Perception points, this number can already detect a level 8 and below Normal monster with stealth ability.
Also, he was elated about his newly added skill in the tab.
[Skill: Swordsman's Bigotry (Active)
Description: Upon activation, decreased the attribute of all classes with an exception of the Swordsman class by 30%. Range for 50m radius. Duration of 30 minutes.
Requirement(s): Curse Ball
Skill cooldown: 6 hours]
His new skill was slightly similar to the skill of Zaine.
However, the attribute reduction effect of his skill was not effective just like the other previous owner of this. Also, it has a 2 days skill cooldown.
Caleb wasn't discouraged by this fact because he already knows this will be the result. In his previous life, the person who get this artifact lamented to this effect but soon rejoiced as he realized it will be powerful in the later game where all the players have already reached 50+ levels.
After he checked his skills, a portal with the color blue suddenly sprang up close to the door in the entrance.
Caleb knows this was the exit to this rift. With his third objective being completed, he has nothing more to do in this place.
He looks once more to the throne that was bathed in the moonlight. Now he was alone, he can feel how solemn this place was.
"No wonder you will be grown bored." After Caleb muttered those words, he turned around and begin to walk toward the portal.
He stepped inside as his vision was out again like the time he first entered this rift. After a few seconds, he can feel a slight cold in his body and the sensation of being submerged in the water.
He opened his eyes and he was back to his previous action where he was reaching the lone old sword in the lake. There were no longer ripples that swell around him as if all of the things that had happened were just a dream.
Caleb looks up and saw the rays of the sun. After five hours inside the Rift, the time outside was still day.
The game, Legacy was built by 16 hours system where daytime has 10 hours and nighttime was the remaining hours. Because of this, he can vaguely guess it was still around noon.
He swam up until he reached the surface and arrived at the rocky side of the lake. Ahead of him was a vast forest.
This place was the home of level 5-6 monsters. Caleb didn't expect to see players loitering in this region as the average level of players at this time of the game was still level 2-3.
He started to stride inside the forest as he was planning to meet the man that was mentioned in the Hidden quest he triggered.
Completing it at the early level was the most preferable and efficient way to gain more rewards. So Caleb decided to take up the quest before doing his next plans.
He checked his inventory while walking and remember that he didn't acquire at least a single coin inside the Rift.
After he bought so many kinds of potions and equipment before he entered that place, he only had 50 coppers left. Though he can gain coins if he were to sell these items lining up in his inventory.
There were both Commons and Uncommon equipment in it. Except for the shards he gets and the current gear he was wearing, he can sell all these things to either players or NPCs.
swish!
An arrow suddenly passed through to Caleb's side and stuck to the tree behind him. Although he only needs a small move in his body to evade it, his perception was the sole reason he can completely avoid that attack.
It was a commendable and perfect ambush from the hunter but, unfortunately, his prey was not simple as it appears.
Caleb then brandished his [Bleed] sword as he quickly runs in the direction where the arrow came. After gaining enough distance, he slashes his sword using the skill [Moon Slice], sending a wave upside the tree in his front.
The figure hiding in the tree's branches leaps to the ground to avoid the attack but before it can land, Caleb was already lashing his sword towards it activating his [Slash] skill.
The damage value of -58 appears in its head and he throws another strike at the figure but suddenly it vanished on the spot.
Caleb with his high perception knows that his enemy didn't use a stealth skill. He shifted his gaze to the distance ahead of him and there, he can see the figure with a slightly long snot and green in color. The face was slightly hidden by the green cloak it wears but he can see the tail linking to its back.
——
[Kobold Ranger] (Normal Monster)
Level 6
HP: 432/490
——
It was a level 6 Normal Monster. It was holding a dark green bow that perfectly fits the color of the forest.
'It seems it uses a blink skill,' Caleb thought after analyzing what had happened. Kobolds and other monsters that were level 5 and above have one or two skills in their arsenal and use it when highly needed.
It was different from the lower monsters where they only use their skills if their HP was reduced by a considerable amount.
After the kobold landed a distance, it readily raised its bow as the arrow loaded in it slightly glow. After release, the arrow split into five and fly with much more speed.
It was another skill of the [Kobold Ranger]!
Caleb also didn't stand there and wait for the arrows to arrive as he dashed planning to meet it.
It was a foolish move to anyone who will see him but before the arrows struck his body—
"Frontal Speed" he muttered softly as he use his attack speed to precisely deflect all the arrows in his front.
In one second, all the arrows were stuck in the ground.
Caleb didn't waste any time as he dashed forward to his enemy not giving it a chance to escape. Since it already uses its blink skill it can only run backward but Caleb catches up to the kobold and delivered a few slashes.
- 48, -57, -45,
A series of damages appeared. After leveling up, his attack power increase again, so he can inflict these large damages even with the defense of the kobold.
The monster wants to survive the onslaught as it abandoned its bow and uses the dagger that is hanging from its waist.
It retaliated against Caleb but can't find a place to counterattack. Its enemy strike was simple yet no excessive move!
Seconds later, Caleb finally ends the ranger's life by using [Slash] skill as his passive knockback [Heavy Blade] and [Swift Blade] triggered at the same time.
[System: Level 6 Kobold Ranger (Normal Monster) was killed! Obtained 110 EXP]
His enemy bursts into light and vanishes from his sights.
