Being stuck underground, there was no way to tell the time, day or night. It was much warmer than Morgan had expected inside the cavernous chambers. Deus knew how long they wandered. It seemed to pass in only minutes. Morgan was so numb to everything, she couldn’t place her own emotions. She could hardly tell if she was feeling anything.
She and Kylon had dozed off after finding their way through the dark. She couldn’t say when or where they had ended up. Memories of the previous day, if it had been a day, were foggy in her mind. Why had they slept in the first place?
Morgan woke to Kylon laying on her and a horrible ache in her back where a rock had been. She shoved him off her and sat up. She supposed she’d keep watch while he slept. She was just glad whatever was in the caves didn't attack them in the night. Perhaps the skeletons kept to their own little areas?
