Morgan and Kylon continued on through the tunnel as it gradually widened, sloping downhill. A surge of pain ran through Morgan’s arm and she slightly tightened her grip on the torch she held and gritted her teeth. She forced herself to go on. The pain intensified and her vision blurred. The Earth shook, loose rocks falling onto them. She let out a yelp as the rocks pelted her arms.
“You okay?” Kylon asked over his shoulder as he pushed vines out of their way.
“Perfectly fine,” She said flatly, brushing dirt off her sleeves as a distraction. The air went still as a piercing cry echoed around them. They shared a look and moments later, another cry surrounded them. It grated against their ears, unnerving and eerie.
Something large and dark leapt at them, swiping with razor-sharp claws. Stepping back, Morgan almost tripped over vines as it swung at her, a claw raking across her wrist. Hot blood flowed down her hand, dripping to the ground at her feet.
