The X Second X Bout

"Because your goal is finding your father… who I presume is a Ging Freeces?" after having given him an answer to his question and then surprising him with an unexpected piece of information I should have no way of knowing, I was sure I would not only get his attention but also the initiative in the following conversation.

"!" and looking at the look I got on his face I was sure that I indeed got his full undivided attention.

'Hook, line, and sinker!' pausing for a moment before resuming talking to allow my words to resonate with Gon I began to speak again.

"If I were to give you a strong lead towards your goal of finding him would you give up? I find this match to be drawn on for far too long… so would you please humor me and surrender, as someone with the most chances to win in this tournament it shouldn't be too inconvenient for you." getting to the point directly I offered a lead towards his father's location, it was the best I could do considering he was an elusive figure.

'Let's just hope he accepts and ends this whole thing…' looking at his unreadable face I waited for a short period for his response.

"...I refuse!" unfortunately I was rejected in a small outburst as he seemed almost offended that I was trying to force him to lose this match. He also looked irate, like someone who had the end of a book or movie spoiled for him as stared me down with a slight fury in his eyes.

*sigh* " While it wasn't outside of my expectations… I really wished you had not said that. You see what I am offering is a lead… not his location. I am not ruining your 'Journey' or 'Adventure' or whatever you're calling this fixation of yours… even with said lead you will be very troubled to find him and in your current state… you will never find him, so just surrender and be done with all this!" urging him further to quit the match I tried to build more momentum in this battle of wills. We were both too stubborn for our own good, I wished to not be bested in any form of competition even if it was childish and could put me in a bad spot in the future. On the other hand, Gon was much to driven, for him giving up on evening the smallest of things was akin to breaking a promise to either himself or someone else. And with how honest and straightforward he is such a thing would be worse than death to him.

"I still refuse to give up…. But I also want that information! So let's find a way where we can both get what we want!" declining to budge or compromise even an inch Gon began pulling out his shoNEN ability of bullshitting till he gets what he wants.

"... *sigh* that's not how that works, in the Hunter business information is crucial so to expect to get without giving up anything is stupid! There is no 'finding a way where we both get what we want.' You cannot just bend the rules when they inconvenience you!" letting his irritating resistance to forfeiting get to me I began a shouting match with him.

"Why not!" snapping back immediately in a loud voice he started pulling out the most canned lines ever.

"Because you don't have more power or influence than the person who made the rules jackass! Now get over here so I can smash that stupid head of yours into the concrete until it starts working properly!" walking towards him again in a slow fury I was ready to start delivering a few hits to his head out of sheer annoyance

"Then I will just become stronger so we can both get what we want!" spewing more power of friendship one-liners Gon began to once again dodge some of the strikes coming his way. This was due to the short amount of recovery time he got as well as my tempo going off balance due to me getting emotional.

"LIKE HELL!" sending another strong blow towards his head I once again missed as Gon staggered out of the way narrowly avoiding the hit.

"Well, lets find another way of settling this match than fighting because I don't like fighting my friends!" closing the distance between us in an attempt to make it harder for me to hit him as he was too close for me to make a real move.

"...if we can settle this in a way you can accept then will you surrender if you lose?" seeing as we were still going nowhere I began thinking of various alternatives of how we can continue this match as we already exhausted two avenues so far.

"..." stepping back then silently nodding at me he stood there waiting for me to continue.

"Will you surrender if you lose?" though seeing as how he previously remained silent I made sure to clarify the winning and losing terms.

"..." though instead of saying anything he just continued to stare at me.

"Figures." muttering under my breath in what can only be described as spite I looked at him as I began to think about how this match will proceed.

'Okay… let's just try something else and hope we make progress by doing so? I already won physically in terms of this fight, as for mind games I could also claim a victory due to this conversation? More like a tie though… as for this next phase, it would be the spirit or the 'charisma' as Netero called it. Though on second thought since when did me fighting Gon have phases? Is he some sort of boss fight!?'

"Well since you are an idiot, I have an idea for how we can settle this. Something simple enough that it can get through that dense skull of yours… we will play one game of rock paper scissors and the loser surrenders. Is that fine with you?" all things considered this was not only a fast and simple solution but one I had an advantage in. statistically speaking rock is the most thrown sign and scissors is the least thrown so using paper which has the least risk with the highest reward will be my best. Especially considering Gon's whole Nen ability was focused on the game and his main and most favored move was the rock I could easily through rock and easily win.

"And I get the information if I win as well!" though I was pulled out of my thoughts as Gon began throwing on more conditions for his victories.

"Have you no shame?" a bit surprised I subconsciously called him out for the crap he was trying to pull.

"But neither do you Magenta-San!" and in a way that only small children could, he innocently ripped into me with a confused face while staring me down.

'Emotional damage!'
