Break In the Action

AN: Sorry for no chapter yesterday, I was eating out with my buddies most of last night. I hope you like the chapter though.

"Fucking hell…" moving on to check on Killua, I found him in a state that could possibly be described as alright. There was a lot of bruising and a bit of disfigurement with limbs bending at odd angles. However, these were the sort of wounds Kurapika was able to fix up and if it had been anyone else had been in his place it would have been a bit more than broken bones and bruises. Picking him up I was a bit surprised when I heard his wheezing pick up as his eyes began to crack open. Positioning him on my back I gestured with my head for Gon to follow me, we had long overstayed our welcome on this battlefield and it was time to tactically retreat.

"Magenta…" walking a few strides behind me Gon spoke up as we hurriedly ran back towards the park we started at his evening. Taking a moment to readjust the weight of Killua on my back I looked on at the slow decline in action. Fires still burned, yet, the number of screams and gunshots declined. As we walked by the temporary command area we saw the victorious shouts and cheering as higher-ups and grunts paraded around the various corpses of troupe members. I even saw Machi's body propped up alongside the other five they managed to find. Off to the side, various Nen users were either talking amongst themselves in small groups or taking calls as they reported the cessation of the wholesale slaughter on the streets to their clients and bosses.

"Yeah?" Urging him to speak, we finally began to see the first responders. A large number of policemen formed a blockade alongside a large number of fire trucks getting set up a bit to the side. A bit further back, I could spot an improvised hospital as ambulances pulled in and out as a large area was cleared out with numerous patients laid out on cots.

"It can probably wait… we need to get out of here and find Leorio don't we?" looking at mass mobilization for a moment as we came to a stop, I reflected on the stark contrast that was before me. Within eyesight was the unhindered brutality of the mafia as the police sat there and did nothing. I guess they only recently started moving in since things calmed down.

"That would be best… I wouldn't want to get held up in a hospital or thrown into the back of an ambulance now, would we? How about you go find Leorio he should be around there helping out with the paramedics. I'll meet the two of you at the park alright?" Turning once again into an alley I began cutting through various streets and sideways as I circled back around to the city park.

"So how are you holding up back there?" sparking up a conversation to kill the time as we began the long trek to avoid being heckled by the authorities. Feeling him shift around a bit I heard a slight intake of air as a sense of discontent washed over me as I felt Killuas aura tense up for a second.

"Not the worst I've dealt with…" lightly exhaling the words, I listened as our conversation began to take off as the two of us reflected on the events of tonight. We mostly spoke about the events while we were shortly separated, filling each other in with the contents of each other's fights. It was interesting, it was only a few minutes short of an hour yet we came out completely exhausted and beaten black and blue. I would need to start working on my stamina in a fight… probably practice maintaining Ken for extended time periods.

"By the way, did you see the bodies? Including the sword user and the one you two were fighting, and the one Kurapika took on the other day there should be eight dead spiders." musing out loud we reveled in the fact that we had at least dealt a huge blow to the enemy, though there was a deeper sense of unease eating away at me.

For all I knew, I really did defeat my opponents… yet, from what I could somewhat recall they had fake corpses on hand to pull some Aizen shit when no one was looking and made the switch. However, there was no real room for a swap to be made as far as I am aware when I killed them both. Although it could be a Nen ability Chrollo stole or a member of the troupes whose power wasn't fully explored like Nobunaga's was. Whatever it was, I was going to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

"And… we are finally here!" coming to a stop next to the park bench I spotted Gon sitting next to a slumped-over Leorio who just got roused from his sleep. Setting down Killua onto the bench we sat there and recuperated for a bit before moving on to check in with Kurapika.

It was just a few short back-and-forth texts as we confirmed the status of the other, thankfully since things looked to be going well enough at the moment so he was able to speak with us. In short, he said he would be able to drop by early tomorrow morning and heal Killua and other small wounds we sustained. Notably though was a short tack-on message he sent at the end of our conversation.

[Now that I think about it, my contact I met a few days back recommended the services of a Nen healer for your hand who should be in town by now according to him. I am not sure about the validity of the information but I can give you their location or rates tomorrow.]

'Well look at that… I won't have to deal with this hand or lack of it anymore'
