I'm Going to Buy Oranges

My name is Steve Grant Rogers.

As for why I have such a long name, it's because I believe they will receive blessings from the grand universe.

As it turns out, I was right. On the second day after I changed my name, I escaped from some kind of experimental base run by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now I'm a bit confused.

"What in the world is this?!"

I used to think it was a Resident Evil world dominated by Umbrella Corporation. It had me sweating bullets. But now you're telling me there's S.H.I.E.L.D., Iron Man, and even some strange mech suits with no apparent "model" designation.

Steve escaped from there, experiencing something thrilling for the first time. With his experiences, making a movie out of it wouldn't be a problem, right? Perhaps he could even become a member of the Avengers.

Of course, right now, he's just thinking about it. Steve, who's on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s blacklist, still has some reservations.

After all, if he were to take those expensive-looking machines back to Nick Fury, that black-hearted guy would probably exploit him to the bone.

Just like those medieval slave masters, their detestable faces make you want to give them a good whipping!

Steve managed to escape, and with his heightened learning ability, he can now evade tranquilliser darts based on instinct.

Of course, it could also be because tranquilliser darts are relatively slow.

Steve doesn't consider himself a big deal. After all, in this Marvel and Resident Evil mixed world, he's just a small fry.

It wouldn't surprise him if, one day, superheroes like Superman and Batman started fighting each other.

That night, Steve lost his sense of direction, and in pursuing the "evil" S.H.I.E.L.D., he had no idea where he ended up.

How could he know?

But he's left New York behind. Unfortunately, if he were to sell it, his little hideout would fetch him a pretty penny.

"Click~"

In the darkness, a weathered manhole cover was slowly lifted and moved aside.

A dark head emerged from inside!

"Pant~ Pant~"

He was panting heavily, and he was a man from the sound of it.

He propped himself up with both hands on the ground, sitting on top of it, with his upper body lying on the ground, looking up at the sky.

"Oh, damn! When was the last time this sewer was cleaned? Why does it smell so bad? I'm going to report this to the Environmental Protection Agency!"

Cough.

A cough startled Steve from his stupor, and he jumped three feet in the air! He almost jumped back into the sewer.

"Sir, this place doesn't fall under the jurisdiction of the Environmental Protection Agency. If the air in New York is fresher, I can arrange a garden villa for you there.

"Oh~" Steve drew out his words, and his soul and body had been in harmony for the past few days, completely integrated. He quickly recalled his memories from his previous life to figure out who the man in front of him was.

"Look at what I've found!" Steve pretended to be surprised. "Stop! Yes, you just stand there and don't move."

The man across from him raised an eyebrow. "Should I go buy some oranges?"

This time, it was Steve's turn to be stunned. "Background?"

"Comrade, are you also from Earth?" Steve asked cautiously while observing the man's facial expressions. He wasn't an ordinary person if someone could silently appear behind him.

The man on the other side was quite taciturn and engaged in a back-and-forth dialogue with him, making Steve suspect he was also a fellow time traveller.

On the other hand, the man couldn't figure out what was going on in Steve's head and felt that Steve's thought process was completely different. But for now, the most important thing was to calm him down. "Earth? Of course, I'm from there."

This made Steve even more suspicious. He narrowed his eyes, which improved his vision in the darkness.

The man was dressed in a black suit, the standard attire of a European or American, standing at around 1.85 meters tall, with a big afro hairstyle, looking tidy, and immensely likable.

But on the left side of the man's chest, Steve noticed a "flaw."

A small emblem, red and white, in the shape of an umbrella. It immediately put Steve on edge.

"Umbrella?"

Steve could see the man's face twitch.

"What is that?"

Steve was getting a little annoyed. Even when he had caught the guy, he wouldn't admit it. "Your company! Corporation! Isn't it Umbrella Corporation?"

The man adjusted his tie slightly. "I apologise, sir. Although our company's logo is indeed as you described, with a bit of an 'umbrella' theme, its name is 'Umbrella Corporation,' not 'Umbrella.'"

Steve stood still, his face showing a weary expression. He couldn't see any escape possibilities in the man, not a single flaw.

It was as if no matter which angle he ran from, the other party could intercept him instantly.

At this point, Steve suddenly wanted a cigarette. He looked at the man with a complicated expression, speaking like a recluse master, "Speak, what do you want from me?"

The man smiled, "I only know that some high-ranking individuals would like to invite you."

"And what if I don't go?"

The man's smile widened, "Lady Red has said that violence can be used if necessary."

Steve's heart skipped a beat. What on earth was going on? Who was this Lady Red? Wasn't that little girl in Raccoon City?

What's happening?

Steve tensed his muscles, his eyes fixed on the man. "Let me ask you one more question. What kind of company are you guys?"

"We are Umbrella, a legitimate pharmaceutical company."

"Boom!"

In the instant the man finished speaking, Steve rushed towards him!

At first, the two seemed evenly matched, with Steve's strength allowing him to keep the upper hand.

But as time passed, the man's skills came into play, and Steve was sent running for cover.

Occasional cries of pain could be heard, scaring even the rats in the sewer.

Steve was battered and bruised, sitting on the ground, while the man smoothed out the wrinkles on his suit.

He sighed and said, "You've fought back, and you've run, but it's been useless!"

"Well, I'll go with you. Can you introduce yourself?"

The man smiled, "You can call me Andre, head of security for Umbrella Corporation."

Steve looked astonished. "Your security department handles this kind of thing too?"

The man's face showed a hint of apology. "It's a tough world, and making a living isn't easy. This time, sir, has been noticed by the higher-ups, and you might even have the potential to rise to the top. You'll have to take care of us in the future."

Steve was a bit bewildered. What was going on? It was nothing like the script in his head! What's happening?

It wasn't until Steve got into a very high-end car that he felt much better.
